Spyderco Customer Service - Not

Sorry, tazkirsti, but I am sure they never made it to my mailbox.

But thank you for looking into to this and for all your help.

Do you just peruse the forum looking for someone to pick a fight with? Obviously I didn't call on a Sunday. If you read my post you will see that both times I called I spoke with the person answering Spyderco's 800 number. The 22nd is obviously a typo.

And you may have noticed that I accomplished what two calls to Spyderco didn't accomplish. I will get the screws I need.

Thanks again Kristi

I may be stating the obvious, but it is testament to the quality of Spysercos extensive line that they can have a warranty department staffed by just one person and an answering machine. Think of how many knives are sold each day, the huge number of models and products they offer, and the various factories all running at full production. Bravo Spyderco on your quality control! Most companies would need a full "team" to keep up with W&R in normal circumstances. Clearly there is not a lot of requirement for returns or warranty,

I needed some screws for a used Military Ti that had some stripped screw heads. Used the email feature on Spyderco's website asking if I could buy some replacement screws. W&R contacted me the next day staying that they dont sell replacement screws and that disassembly voids the warranty but were going to send me some screws. The screws never arrived after waiting 2 weeks. Emailed them again and they said they had mailed some out already but were sending them again. I contacted them through email and was never demanding because these were free and they did not need to send them out. W&R did include a letter with their warranty policy and even highlighted the part that they do not cover damage caused by disassembly.

I emailed Spyderco CS about either purchasing a (one) replacement grip screw, or specs to source it myself. Got a reply from Charlynn requesting my home address for shipment. I replied and recieved not one, but two screws ~2 weeks later.

I sent Charlynn an email letting her know I recieved the screws, and a thanks.
She replied back thanking me for letting her know I recieved them.

I feel very satisfied with Spyderco and Charlynn, above and beyond expectations, but guilty for no charge for the parts.

I emailed them last week about buying a few bronze washers for my para 2 and the return email stated "Sorry that is not a part that we ship" A little disappointing so I ordered some from USA Knifemakers. They ship the screws for pocket clips and body but not the washers?!?

They ship the screws for pocket clips and body but not the washers?!?

Not surprising. Screws can get screwed up innocently enough, but needing to replace washers means disassembling the knife. That voids the warranty. They won't want to encourage that.

I requested some screws via the "contact us" link on the Spyderco Website on Saturday night and received them the next Friday. Great in my book. I have had one other CS experience as well and it was stellar.

The screws I requested came in the mail today. My thanks to you and the other folks at Spyderco that helped out!

I've experienced the "dance" with that silly answering machine. Bottom line is that nobody appears to be listening to the messages. They need to fix that, or remove the option to leave a message as it leaves customers with a false sense of security that something will get done.

They do seem to respond to email, and of course here (which I think is terrific). But as OP has also experienced, telephone support does not seem to be a strong point.
