I know Spyderco has a stellar reputation. Well it's been my experience that it's well deserved over the years and nothing has changed now either.

Had a question about one of the models I own so I sent spyderco an email.

The lady (not sure if it's appropriate to post her name ) was very friendly and responded to my email almost instantaneously. Our back and forth emails were faster than my wife's text messages most of the time.

She was able to walk me through everything and answer my questions etc. She really went out of her way for me. If I can post her name I will, if I can't that's ok. Just wanted to thank her .

I've had to send 1 spyderco in for warranty a few years back and it was squared away snd sent back to me like new. Also had to order a few pocket clips and it was always a pleasure dealing with them. Well nothings changed at Spyderco. Thanks for taking the time to help me out this morning

Hey Spartan!! Was it Charlynn?? Had a couple of excellent interactions with her recently!
If you're straight up, and not looking to pull a fast one, she will go out of her way to help! She will NOT, however suffer fools lightly!!!
She hooked me up by replacing a Ti Millie right after Christmas! She was so helpful, couple of follow up phone calls and a letter of apology, that I sent her a flower arrangement to thank her!!
Excellent customer service!!

Yes it was her. I agree just be honest these people have heard every excuse in the book. They know the knives , if you take it apart or goof it up just tell them. They will be able to tell and Spyderco has always been stand up with me . Now I've never tried to pull a fast one on them either though.

^ HOY! Flowers...really? Don't be hitting on "my" Charlynn, Joe! :couple_inlove::love_heart:

Whenever I have a question, or need any type of customer service assistance from Spyderco, I always make sure I get ahold of this girl. She's a total sweetheart! CRK's, Benchmade & Spyderco, all have wonderful people working in their customer service departments.

Agree, I let her know I made a thread about her. Just showing a little gratitude because we all know how "some people" can be. You do something good and a person goes about their business, but do something bad and they tell the world. Just letting her know she's appreciated

How true re the people trying to get over on them Spartan!! We spoke on the phone for about half an hour and she told me some of the moves some guys try to make!! They will then go on a forum and bash Spydie CS!! Charlynn is NO dummy!!

Forget it John!!!! She told me to tell you it's over bro!!! You never sent her flowers my friend!!
😬😬

^I hate to burst your bubble Joe, but we (Charlynn & I), spoke for 45 minutes once! We have sort of a friend's with benefits type relationship- she gave me an extra 10% off once, on a Spyderco accessory! :p

I would love for her to check in Spartan!! She can finally tell our friend Kelama it's over!!

In all seriousness:

If companies like Medford (I'm referring to Greg- not his wife), Strider, Microtech, & maker's like ADV (Andre), had a cool, sweet person like Charlynn working for them, we probably wouldn't be reading nearly as many thread's here in the GBU regarding poor customer service.

I for one, sincerely appreciate being treated as a "valued customer." When the occasion arises & you do need C.S. support, that's when you learn the most about a company, & their business ethics. We as paying customers, want to feel that our business is appreciated!

So true!! The best I have found are Benchmade, Micah Hunter is an absolute doll!! Spydie, Charlynn rocks!! Pro Tech, Mapi always answers the phone and will make sure she takes care of any issues!
No wonder my collection consists of many models from these 3 companies!

Honorable mention goes to Brous. Keena helped me out after I bought a Bionic off the Exchange. It would not flip.....period. She had a new one at my door in a week!

In my expierence, and this is just mine now. Microtech has gotten better than they used to be. I had a couple of hiccups with a lady there a few years back when she tried to tell me in voided my warranty on an auto knife ,with an auto knife problem, because I sharpened it! True story ! My local dealer is the biggest microtech dealer anywhere though and they got me squared away.

Your right though, I see both sides of it. One one hand your a business and you have people calling sending in things and saying oh I never pryed with it, or took it apart or whatever else they did. Again these people see these knives daily , if that loctite is broke ,or packed full with even more than before and those screws are damaged you fiddled with it. Tell them say hey I fiddled with it. I'm a dude I have tools I fiddle with things it happens. Just don't expect them to use their shop time and money on your goof up. I'm not saying take your knife apart and expect them not to void your warranty I'm saying if you tell them you did it they may help you, we are all grown here ,we all make mistakes if it's your fault own up to it .

I started out with benchmade and spydercos and moved on to your 4 5 6 hundred dollar knives . I always come back to them though. Part of that is because of what happened earlier with me or if I had an issue I could go to Sal and get info from him.

None of this "I'm the great ____" my knives are suoer awesome because I make 2 a month and never contact you and I make you think your privileged for me to be able to take your money.

Wife and I aren't rich folks and we work for what we have. It's nice to deal with folks that appreciate you and not act like your blessed to have an opportunity to fork over your hard earned dollars to them ,and then they may not even stand behind it.

I've been into knives a long time now. Saw some companies grow like crazy and some crash and burn. I have ones I'll go out of my way to deal with and a spend a little more just to support them. Some I'll never spend another dime with and wouldn't be seen with their knives in my pockets over just how they've done friends of mine.

Oh and just because there's not threads on some of these "bad apples" word gets around I promise you that.

This is a very cool thread. It's nice to hear about customer service folks that get it & see that they are appreciated & recognized. To me, good customer service is at times more important than the product itself.

How true 10's!!!
Getting treated like a valued customer when you have a problem, dictates if you will come back again and again!!
Take it a step further......the CEO of said company comes on a forum to lend a helping hand!!! Happened to me and I go back again and again!!!
Joe

I'll make sure Charlynn and her manager see this thread. I know she would appreciate it very much. Thank you (all of you) for taking the time to post a positive experience!
