Spyderco Delica 4 as a Tactical Duty Knife?

Honestly depends on you as a person. I have one and it's too thin blade for me edc with no job so on duty as tactical use get a benchmade Stryker

Go for a PM2 or military. I'd suggest a military just because of its weight and utility. A PM2 is nothing to sneeze at though. They feel great. I personally don't care much for backlock knives, though.

I agree 100%. Can't stand the locks on the Endura and Delica. My Spyderco Paramilitary 2 on the other hand with it's compression lock is one of my favorite folders. Although when new it was hard to operate because the lock bar was so tight. I had to do what I do to all my new acquisitions: Take it apart and make it work right. I took it apart, hyper extended the lock bar in the opposite direction that it's bent to weaken the force it applies, sand all of the pivot surfaces with 2000, 4000, 8000 and 12,000 grit sandpaper clean it and lube it with mineral oil.

Now it works effortlessly. Be careful not to hyper extend the lock bar too much if you attempt this.

Didn't you ask this exact same question in October? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1337811-Spyderco-Delica-4-for-Duty-Use

Also, in your very first post ever, you mentioned that you had owned a Delica and an Endura and didn't like them. Have you reconsidered?

If you would explain what you actually need to use the knife for in your duties, that might help people answer. "Tactical" has become almost a meaningless marketing term, but originally it implied that the knife might need to be used as a weapon. Is that what you are looking for?

Without further information to go on, I would say that a Delica 4 would be fine as a general purpose cutting tool. I have one and it is a nice, lightweight ergonomic knife with a good blade profile.

Ha! I guess I did! Oh well, I'm getting a lot of new information anyway :) and I never used the term "tactical" in this post...

I had a Spyderco Tasman salt. After carrying it in my pocket (not clipped) for a while the lock did not lock the knife. I rinsed it and it worked again. I put it in my pocket, carried it and the same thing happened. Pocket lint disabled the lock.

I find it worrying that the lock is so extremely sensitive to dirt.
