Recently dug an old year 2000 Delica out of my sock drawer. The Delica was my first modern, lightweight, one hand open/close, pocket clip equipped knife (I actually sold Spydies for a brief time,) and though I eventually moved on to using Kershaws for my EDC, I think I've fallen back in love with all those things that make the Spyderco -- and the Delica in particular -- a great knife. I'm teetering on the edge of purchasing a new Delica 4 FRN, and I'm wondering if people have any comments to share on the following:
1.) The new style FRN handle: Do you like the new pattern, and between the brown and the gray, which would you pick?
2.) The weight of the 4 vs. the original pinned model that I have: Looks like the liners and perhaps the grind might have added a couple ounces over the original. Noticeable when used for EDC?
3.) The blade tip: My older Delica has that wicked needle point tip. Delicate, but impressive. Has the new, more rounded tip lost much in the way of piercing or penetration?
Any feedback appreciated. I've searched through most of the earlier Delica commentary and it would be fun to get some additional perspective.
Enjoy the weekend!
