I put this in the general forums but i think it is better here.

Is the Spyderco delica and endura FFG going to come out in black?

If not, then I will just buy a delica with the sabre grind.

Also, is the spyderco caly jr discontinued? How come i dont here much about it but hear a lot about the caly 3

I’d be surprised if the Delica didn’t come in black. That will very likely be my next knife. Supposed to be available in May.

The new 2010 catalog only shows a Caly 3 CF.

FFG Delica/Endura models are not going to be in black, not yet at least. This run of FFG is simply to test how the public "reacts" to FFG Delica/Endura models. You could buy a colored one, and a black saber and then just swap blades, it should work.

C52 Calypso Jr. was discontinued a while ago. I assume your talking about the C113 Caly3 which was in G-10(now discontinued) and in CF(still available).

Edit to add: You could buy a FFG Delica/Endura and then RIT-Dye the handle black. You can only dye the handle black, trying to dye it another color will only result in a brownish handle.

Too much of a hassle haha. how is the sabre grind on the delica and the endura? Much more worth it to wait for a FFG? Why doesnt the public like FFG?

I like FFG a lot, it makes for a great slicer. IMO, there is nothing wrong with the Saber ground Delica/Enduras, they are really strong. Not sure why the public isn't a fan of FFG blades.

I'm really excited about the FFG gray Endura that's heading my way, just in time for camping and hiking season. I wonder if in the near future it would be possible to buy only the frn scales? I would love orange on my Endura but just can't afford to buy everything I want knife-wise. It would be cool to be able to give a knife an inexpensive face lift, especially when it changes the look so dramatically.

I've been carrying an E4, with Emerson opener and w/o, for years. However, I couldn't wait any longer for an orange variant of the Endura so I jumped on this un-lined large FRN BuckLite Max BU486ORSBC, $22 before shipping:

However, I have a brown FFG E4 on order so as not to stray to far from Golden for long... Update: NGK just filled my order! Wheee!!!

Perhaps if the colorful FFG Spyderco folders receive public acceptance then the orange Enduras and Delicas will follow quickly into production.

I will keep my eyeballs peeled back for FRN FFG E4 in orange:

An orange FFG Endura would be pretty dang sweet.

I'd like to pick up one of the cheaper discontinued G10 models in plain edge, but they are getting hard to find.

What about a white Endura + Orange RIT dye? that may hold you over for a while. If you posted pictures, that might get the masses more into it too. I've seen the White ladybug Rit dyed orange and it looks great.

I revere the one remaining white E4 I have. Got two and gave one to a terrific friend who deserved something excellent. I hesitate to adulterate the last one.

Good idea. You first. :D

I would buy a production FFG, fluorescent orange, E4.

Has anyone swapped scales between the FFG delica and saber delica yet? I'd love to pick up a FFG Delica, but the colors turn me off from buying one right now. I would jump on it if I knew I could swap scales though. A black handled FFG delica would be such a great EDC....

I found this YouTube video of a Delica blade swap a while back, but it's not done with a FFG model. Still, it proves this can be done without too much trouble.

Taking a part Delica or Endura won't take more than few minutes. However I am not sure how it affects warranty. Some companies drop their warranty immediately if their knives are disassembled.

Taking apart is easy; reassembling it is the tricky part :D

If done properly, warranty isn't automatically voided, because these are meant to be disassembled IF DONE RIGHT.
BUT: If you break it during reassembly (which is quite possible if you don't know what you do), it's you fault and not covered by warranty. You could send it in for repair ($20) or buy the spare parts kit (FRN scales not included) and try again.

Tip: There's a Delica (Endura) lego thread over at the Spyderco factory forum. One should read this before disassembling an Endura/Delica4. It helps.

personally I love the colors. Black is boring after awhile. adds flavor to my collection. And the FFG blades are insane sharp out of the box. God I love that grind..

I swapped a black saber with the gray ffg, basically just swapped the frn scales. Just swap the scales, don't change lockbars or anything. Works just fine and I sold the gray one for what I bought it for.
