Disclamer: idea first uttered in Nick Shabazz video on You Tube:

but think about it, Delica 5 maybe, with FRN texture like in FRN Chaparral, metal backspacer, fit and finish from Taichung, CTS-XHP steel, but still Delica shape wise ...both handle and blade!

Who would buy that in a heartbeat? I would!

I guess Spyderco doesn't necessarily like these kind of initiatives, with 200 new knife models per year, but on the other hand they do CQI and they do release new versions of older models from time to time, hence number in Delica 4, right?

I like Taichung.

Except for the fact that the blade corners always have sharp edges that need to be chamfered to make them finger friendly.

I have a feeling that if they ever did do that, Boomer52 would be inundated with requests for his Lil Para mod :D

Hi Knifebitten,

Welcome to our forum.

Interesting idea, but it does add cost. Seki knives are expensive as it is, so adding cost to the Delica might invite more complaints that yeah's?

I still like this Delica. But it was an unfortunate victim of "costs too much".

Somewhere, someone has a nice production sample!

What !
Are you inside my head ! ! !
I was just thinking that last night and looking for what I could find for sale.
I don' own a Delica yet . . . YES
I would buy that ! ! !
Gotta have the XHP or Super Blue would be good.
I like VG-10 but wouldn't mind an up grade (even if it tarnishes or rusts).
yes, Yes, YES !

Grind it as thin as the Chapparal
And I'll pay a lot more.
Seki knives are worth it.
(Taichung as well)

Dude just wanted to say the S30 Delicas are pretty sweet. If you don't have one yet they're worth a look. I really dig the Cutlery Shoppe orange wharncliffe and only like a few bones more than VG10

I, for one, wouldn't mind 20-30$ more if it was Taichung fit'n finish, XHP Delica with new FRN texture, and Chaparral like metal backspacer...
If it was more then I would like for it to be in a sprint or limited realm...not standard production, and maybe even more premium.

Well thank you for responding.
I'm kind of a dud I'm afraid . . . orange handles are a big ain't gonna happen for me and I can't say I'm a fan of S30V (don't care for toothy / I like polished edges ); I'd go for VG-10 over S30V.
It's a personal failing on my part. Call it an irrational preference.

I totally understand this, its not an irrational preference at all. I'm ex military so anything that wasn't coyote, OD green, or black just didn't look right. Haha I never thought I would own orange knives or any crazy colors, had to dip my toe in. Good luck with finding a good match because the Delica is extremely handy. Keep us updated

Oh and no body was going to tell me about the Centofante III ? That has a 2mm blade thickness and similar size handle to the Delica, actually a tad longer which is good for me.

Can any one tell me how the handle thickness compares to the Delica along the axis of the rivets not up and down ?
Photo side by side would just be
ecstatically wonderful

Yes I know, no steel liners and rivet construction. I'm super happy with my UKPK and it is this.
thanks
