The Benchmade is a little more money, but is it the better knife?
design, build quality, materials
VG-10 / 440C,
unlined / lined,
FRN / Noryl GTX
lockback / Axis lock

I'm getting both anyway!... but interested in your views.

I suggest the delica.

1. I dont think you would need the extra strength of the axis lock with such a small folder. It would be nice, but i doubt you will use a small knife that hard.
2. The steel VG-10 is alot better than the Mini-grip. It will cut circles around the BM.
3. the Delica is alot thinner and lighter. It is perfect for any pocket with any dress code.
4. The FRN and GTX are very similar. The GTX feels kind of hollow.
5. The steel liners are good, but make the small blade bulky and thick. Not really needed for a small cutter.

If it were a larger blade like Endura VS. Griptilian i would pick the BM Griptilian. I would much appreciate the added strength with the larger blade.

Mini-grip, easy to sharpen and is sooo much fun to open/close. BM's clips are the best on the market.

SPYDERCO Delica is typical lightweight knife, slim and exceptionally easy to carry, not too strong however quite enough for very most of daily cutting chores.

BEMCHMADE Mini-Griptilian (no matter 555 or 556) is built on full steel load-capable frame and it can hold much heavier cutting tasks. However it is significantly heavier and thicker. Also thicker handle provide somewhat better handling comfort and security on heavy cutting.

Take this into consideration making your choice, the rest – price, steel, lock format, handle material – makes marginal difference only.

They're both great and you've made the right choice by getting both.

Each are designed to be tightly held for hours of cutting pleasure. The Delica is lighter and slimmer with deep volcano-pattern FRN and the Griptillian's thumb ridges and wider handle make your grip surer. Two ways of attaining the same goal.

In the right hands, obviously not mine, the Delica can outcut the Griptillian. In the wrong hands, the Griptillian can chop through the handle of the Delica.

If you're not squeamish about using the integral choil, the S30V Native is a sweet carry as well.

I have both the Delica and the 555 and I like them both for different reasons:

The Delica because it's very light weight, rather slim, and more comfortable in my hand than the Mini-Grip. I also like the super-pointy and thin Delica blade. I like the round thumb-hole better than the oval 555 thumb-hole (my thumb slips off the oval hole sometimes).

I like the 555 because the axis-lock is very smooth and fun to play with, the knife is stronger as a whole, and the clip does'nt loosen up as much as the Delica's.

You might want to check out the Kershaw Scallion or Leek too.

Good luck,
Allen.

Here's another vote for the Delica. I can tell you from experience that the Delica is hard to beat when you look at it's price vs. quality ratio. It is also the most ergonomically sound knife (IMO) that I have ever owned. I think that you will find that it is up to pretty much any cutting task that you may throw at it.

I've owned both and I carry the Delica. The BM is a great knife but like it's been mentioned, it's alittle bit hefty. The Delica is thinner and has a nice pointy tip that I see as a very useful feature.

i'd say the Delica overall.

the one advantage of the BM might be the stronger tip.

but we -never- pry with knives do we? :)

so yeah, the Delica
