I'm going to order one of these before this weekend is over, just want to see what the popular opinion is.

TIA

i have both, i like the Delica better

i don't think you can go wrong with either though

I had this same problem a couple of months ago. So i bought both. I ended up giving the delica to a buddy of mine who was carrying around a frost of all things. And i bought another native to replace the delica. I'd say native all the way. But it really depends on what your using it for and what not. On my natives i prefer the serrated edge, the only serrated baldes i own btw.
I'm sure either one will do well for you, i just didnt care for the ergos on the delica very much. The Native feels great tho.

They are very similar. The thumb hole on the Native is partially obscured by the scales, giving the advantage (in my book) to the Delica.

You may be able to find a Native (but not the Delica) at your local Walmart, so you could give it a feel before deciding.

cheers

I have both, definately Delica for me. As mentioned, the hole placement is better. If you want to spend an extra couple of bucks, the Delica ZDP-189 is worth it.

I agree.

Delica ZDP-189 all the way.

You get a really top of the line knife for a very reasonable price.

I don't know why popular opinion would have anything to do with your choice.

Pick a knife based on how well it fits your hand, and works for the tasks you need it for, and maybe even what's restricted in your area.

Both knives are great for the money. I have the Native in S30V and it was already mentioned that the spyderhole is covered a bit. The overall knife feel isnt as solid as my delica4 wave. I personally enjoy my delica more than the native. Depending on what you are going to be using the knife for, I would say the delica would be fine for everyday things cutting up boxes and things like that. The native to me seems more suited for outdoors type things and thus the Native is going to be my outdoors pocket knife.

Hope that helps a bit.

Maybe because the point of the forum is to get opinions? Hearing from folks that own both and have used both may help.

I do agree with you, a knife is a personal choice. Though it is interesting to hear what other's think of the two in question.

While I agree with Esav that the choice is really in your hands (pun intended), I would like to voice a dissenting opinion from that of the majority of posters to this thread.

I have both a Delica and a Native III and I much prefer the Native III. It feels better in my hand and IMO is a more handsome blade shape. It has become my main EDC.
(Note how to Esav's delight I have based my opinion on purely subjective parameters.:D )

If you need more point cutting control then the Native is your knife. If you need more general slicing ability then the Delica is the one you want. I have both and this is the way I select their use.

I have loved the Native from the first time I saw one, and it is still one of my all time favorite Spydercos. That said, the Delica is great too. I just am a slightly bigger Native fan.

Please keep in mind that this isn't an apples to oranges comparison -- it's between two similar varieties of apple :)

You won't go far astray with either.

Both the Native SV30 and the Delica4 are in my EDC rotation. It does not matter which one you get because you will end up with both. Don't spend a lot of effort resisting.

Before buying either, try and handle each one for yourself. As far as the Native goes (that would be my choice), try the Native III as it has a larger, fuller handle than the other Natives out there.

Esav Benyamin hit that nail ... apples ta' apples ... really a subjective choice on those two. (I guess any choice is subjective though). I have two natives and like them both.
