Actually it's the pivot itself (not the screw) that's the problem in this case. To remove the clip you'd need to have something in place of the clip under the pivot screw head to achieve proper pivot tension.

Shorten the screw and you're done. I could have swore I posted a pic of this on page one of this thread...
 
Another fun fact... If you shorten the screw you can still attach the clip, so why this wasn't done in the factory I will never know.
 
Ah, thank you. I could have sworn it was the screw. Still... Seems like something the factory could have designed in.
