Can anyone tell me where I can find a pair to add to my sharpmaker? Everyone I call tells me that they are not manufacturing them at this time and that Spyderco is looking for a manufacturer. Any input would be appreciated.

Im sure you could find them on ebay. To be honest with you, you would be better off with a diamond bench stone. It will be much cheaper as well.

Ditto. There are cheaper alternatives that will work just as well in combination with the Sharpmaker.

+ 2. And I have them. An extra course bench stone is the best accessory for the Sharpmaker.

I have 2 problems with the Sharpmaker diamond rods. First, at least on mine, they seat at a wider angle than the other stones. So if you're trying to reprofile with them, your work is far from over when you switch to the medium rods. Second, they're only about 320 grit. You really need something courser (lower number grit) to reprofile.

The DMT extra couse bench stone has worked well for me. Courser would be better. Or even better, save the $60-70 and put it toward an Edge Pro system.
