Spyderco Domino: First Impressions.

The Domino is now my favorite Spyderco. It's a wonderful knife.

Nice write up man I really want this knife, but I'm trying to seriously cut back on buying expensive knives for a while. This thread needs some pictures by the way.

BTW - I really like this knife, too. Especially since it was a gift.

Lol! Sorry, saw too many threads on both and posted in the wrong one. :)

I have a domino and a dice, and the flipping action is better on the dice. In order for the domino to not have side to side play the pivot has to be pretty tight, and it doesn't open as easily that way. I've been looking for ways to remedy, but haven't figured out anything tat works yet.

My Domino is rock solid and flips very fast. I purchased from a reputable company and would have returned the knife if it had side to side play.

My brother tried it for awhile and ordered a blue weave.

I feel opposite of most people I do not like the southard at all.it flip smooth but that blad imo is horrible.ugly and useless but thats me.I like the domino allot and I think spyderco should move most of there production to thaichung far better fit, and finnish and they dont ever have shortages like Colorado.I love things made in usa but I have had more problems with myusa spydies than thaichung.I have never had one to at all made there and I have over a hundred spydies.the domino is a fine flipper and after I relprofiled it to 15°on my edgepro.it slices like a dream .the steel is very easy to work with and has held a great edge so far on my spydies that have it.I would love to see a flipper with the pm2 blade made the exact same way as the blue weave dominoe.ti frame lock and solid cf no crappy tape cf.I love the pm2 blade the scales feel so cheap even the fake cf s90v but I love that blade.so one pm2 fllipper in vg10 and one pm2 flipper spyderedge also vg10 made in thaichung .I would carry one in each pocket to take care of any cutting task.I love vg10 takes screaming sharp edge with ease and holds very welk.im a chef and all my chef knives are vg10.a man can dream .for now the dominoe will.do I woukd like one in spyderdge though sal used to allways put a spyderedge on his production knives I hope the domino

I'm with you on this.

The two issues you brought up, that is, jimping on the flipper and the Spydie hole are minor to me. I've had no issues opening it with either method. Undoubtedly, I agree with your recommendations. The Spydie hole is a little too low and inwards when closed. This actually interferes with the aesthetics a little too.

My own personal issue with the Domino is that I wish the blade was not as wide and thus leaving more space in your pocket.
