Mine showed up today, so I snapped a few quick and dirty photos:

Some comparison shots, here with PM2, Sage 2, and Southard:

Last one lined up roughly where sharpened edges start:

And one more glamor shot:

So far, I'm not sure it's shaping up to be a knife for me, but it's a very nice knife. It's bulky and short-bladed, like a Sage or PM2. It does flip really well (right there with the Southard and 0801, my other best-flipping production folders) and the fit and finish is great. The scale is really pretty.

Nice pics. The domino is quickly becoming my favorite in my collection...

I'm glad to hear it. It's a no-brainer that this one will be another huge success for Spyderco. A sturdier, prettier Sage with a flipper? No wonder they're flying off the shelves.

I have to say, the scale is really wonderful. It's very attractive, but has a very nice texture to it as well.

Thanks for the comparison pictures. Mine should arrive Monday and now I'm even more excited for it!

After looking at both spyderco flippers I think the southard would be the best of the two. I hope they make more Southards soon!

After messing with it more, and comparing flipping actions exhaustively, I have to admit that my Domino flips better than any of my other manual flippers, Southard included (the Domino has a stiffer detent, just perfect really).

Also, that scale is really, really pretty. It feels nice too. I still prefer the Southard, but folks that dig that Spyderco style should love this one.

I think I am going to end up liking the Domino more than the Southard. In-hand the Domino feels better. I need an STR clip though, or maybe a modification for a wire clip.

Yes, the Domino and the Southard share that feature for sure: both would really benefit from a better clip. Hopefully STR will have something nice to solve this gap, though a wire clip would be nice too.

Thanks for the comparison pics.It looks like the Southard & Domino are the same size closed but the Southard has roughly an inch more blade length. Is that about right?
Personally I wouldn't change a thing about the clip.Spyderco's hourglass clips are my favorite, plus I like a little bit on the end to grab.No low riders for me.
This looks like an all around winner to me.The only thing I may not like is the steel insert in the framelock.I didn't like it on the Tuff, but I read this one's done differently.Even if I don't like it,I highly doubt it'll be a deal breaker.

Mine should be here this Monday.I can't wait.

Southard is 4.5" closed with a blade length of 3.46".

Domino is 4.55" closed with a blade length of 3.13".

I will have it done if I like it enough. My Chokwe got the treatment. I will use that last pillar screw (maybe have to get a longer one) and mill it out. I think a regular PM2 STR would work fine.

@evilgreg - Really, really nice pics there. I'm loving that CF scale. Is it grippy or smooth? I wish Spyderco would do more out there scale designs sometimes, this seems to qualify.

@nccole - That wire clip really adds to the Chokwe. If I had to guess I would have thought it was designed that way and the top one was modded :p

Actually, to JTR357's point there is closer to an inch difference between their blades than you might think, at least when sharpened edges are compared (Domino 2.89", Southard 3.46").

Nice photos. I have stupidly waited for my usual dealer to get it in stock but hasn't yet. Should have bought earlier this week so I could have a new knife to play with.

Thanks for posting these pics. Great comparisons. Mine arrives Monday... really looking forward to it. The clip though is a definite missed opportunity... just don't understand that choice by the designer (Eric). Taiwan puts lots of wire clips on lots of Spydies... why not this one? This knife deserved a wire clip. Oh well... rest of the knife looks stellar.

Thanks for the comparison shots, I' ve been looking for those. It' s a pretty knife for sure, but I' m still undecided on it. It just seems so bulky and wide, considering it' s size.

Sorta looks like a cross between a Nishijin R and a Sage 2......... with a flipper.

Got it. I see a cutting edge difference of a little more than half an inch.

After carrying it for a couple of days, I'm still not warming up to it. I love the textured scale, and it flips so well, but it's huge in the pocket for what it provides :(
