Spyderco Domino Quick Photo Album

After carrying it for a couple of days, I'm still not warming up to it. I love the textured scale, and it flips so well, but it's huge in the pocket for what it provides :(

Great pics sir, I had a feeling you were not going to take to the Domino knowing that pocket width was a concern of yours for the Sage series as well. The Domino scales are good looking for sure, I like the glass weave and really like the dark titanium lock side as well. I am lukewarm about the rest of the knife though. I have to say that I expected the knife to be smaller based on the blade length. I am not a fan of the slanted (ricasso line?) either, I wish it was more vertical like on the Sage and that the bump was more rounded rather than pointed above the Spydie hole. These are just my initial impressions though. It took me a while to warm up to the Southard so it may be the same for the Domino.

Interesting, I actually really like the slanted ricasso and point on the hump, I thinks it makes the knife look slightly more "edgy" (no pun intended...)

Too bad that Domino is about $200. It would be a nice companion to my Benchmade 300SN, since they are about the the same size in terms of handle and blade length.

I wish it came with either a full Ti scale or g-10.
but I'll prob buy it anyway because I love my Sage models.
The bearing system and flipper just suck me in.

I think I like the proportions of the Southard better. Seems like very similar dimensions to the BM 940 (which I love).

LOL, to each his own right?

Exactly. Mine comes in sometime this week and I hope I like it as much as I think I'm going to. I'm sure getting tired of having to order knives without handling them first. I also live in MN and the distinct lack of knife shops is quite frustrating.

Problem is that most window shop at a local brick and mortar retailer and then purchase online for a better overall price.

Look at retail booksellers. Of course, like music & video stores they also have to contend with an all-digital format.

Who knows may be one day everyone will 3D print their own knives. :)

I got this and most of my recent knives from a brick and mortar. I get to play with all their stuff so it seems fair to pay a bit more. Also I get to choose a little more in terms of fit and finish.

So I received my Domino today, and the first word I uttered on seeing was "gorgeous". Yeah, that's how those scales and the titanium side finish looks. The flipper action is a bit "gritty", but I guess it will smooth out as I flip it more. Some pics for your to enjoy (and a few comparison shots for relative size as well).

What a superb scale pattern

Tell me about it. No knife shops in my area really.. Mine's coming this week. Delivered to my house so I can "check it out". Same with every knife.

mine just came in today and I love it!! will post pics up tomorrow :D
nice pics thanks for sharing:thumbup:

Thanks for the comparison pics.It looks like the Southard & Domino are the same size closed but the Southard has roughly an inch more blade length. Is that about right?
Personally I wouldn't change a thing about the clip.Spyderco's hourglass clips are my favorite, plus I like a little bit on the end to grab.No low riders for me.
This looks like an all around winner to me.The only thing I may not like is the steel insert in the framelock.I didn't like it on the Tuff, but I read this one's done differently.Even if I don't like it,I highly doubt it'll be a deal breaker.

Mine should be here this Monday.I can't wait.

what don't you like about the steel insert?
