Has anyone here had any experience with the Spyderco Endura with the G10 handle and full flat ground blade. I was thinking of buying one but I haven't heard anyone mention them here. I have a Military but it's a little big for my pocket and I thought the endura would be just right. Thanks

The Endura isn't much smaller than the Military, but it isn't quite as wide closed so it doesn't take up quite as much pocket space. It makes up for that by being a bit heavier, but not a lot. The blade is reasonably thin, mine measured about 0.020" thick behind the edge, which is less than half what I got on my saber-grind FRN Enduras and only twice as thick as my Krein regrind E4. It is a pretty good cutter for what I consider light to medium use (most folks call that normal to hard use, but they call my normal borderline abuse). Here are a few pics I had laying around.

I have three top Spyderco Knives that I like the Military, the Police 3, and the Foliage Green G10 Endura with full flat grind.

Its a good knife, I usually rotate between the three (Well for the Military one of the 4 versions I have.)

I probably should have mentioned the tip on my Endura has been reground to a point. I hate the new tips. ;)

I had the tip of my Endura ZDP reground to a splinter picker, same with my Police 3 and R2. I don't pry with my knives so a fine tip is what I like on my knives. A .020" edge on a 3 3/4" factory blade is excellent for cutting ability and durability for the average user. I have no trouble with .010" or less on my Endura ZDP and Police 3 among others, but the again I cut straight and don't twist out of cuts with the edge buried in a hard material. The G-10 Endura should be a nice cutting, very durable folder.

Thanks everyone for the info. This clears up my question. I really like my current Endura but thought the flat grind would make for a better slicer on fruit, veggies and such. Also, the G-10 would be a nicer grip. I like my Military but it just seems too big and a little awkward to carry. Thanks Again

You will be VERY happy with your purchase, if not than hit me up and Ill buy it off ya, its a win win.

I lost mine, and plan on purchasing another. Gosh how I loved that knife. Surprised we dont hear more about it. Id die for some other flavors.

Kudos for the fantastic pictures. It's nice to see some hard-use knives that have actually been used. There's nothing irks me more than pictures of collections of serious knives all fresh and sparkling like they've never seen anything more serious than an envelope to open.

There's not much danger of that with my pictures. ;) Both of those knives came out of my pockets to be photographed. About the only ones I have that don't show wear are the pre-need replacements for the ones that show a lot of wear. :D

I *really* want one of these. The FFG Endura is a dream come true. I'm kinda going back and forth between one of these and a Police 3, but I think the G10 Endura will probably carry a bit easier. Maybe I'll eventually own both, but for now I think the G10 Endura would do. Plus, I'm not sure, but would this be a tiny bit better slicer than the Police 3 (as far as blade thickness, width, etc.)?
Jim

Not really. The Police 3 is one lean, mean, cutting machine. But it is also over the legal limit of 4" for a folding knife here in Kansas, so that Endura sees a lot more pocket time.

5 Inches Baby!!!!!!!!!! No not me Man the Length of your legal carry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what Yab said, the G-10 Endura probably has a slightly thinner edge than the Police 3. Mine was .025" before I had it reground to .010" and the spine flattened to make it an serious piercing machine. Pics of my Police 3 can be seen in the thread I started in the general section about my Krein regrind on my Police 3. Otherwise they would be similar, with the Police 3 having a finger choil, which I really like on my knives, and an extra 1/2" plus of blade length at the expense of the thinner edge and shorter carry dimentions of the Endura. The Police 3 actually disappears in your pocket due to it's slim and narrow profile, though a shallow pocket might cause an issue (my jeans are fine).

Cool!
I will probably end up owning both G10 Endura and Police 3, but want the former first. I really hope these G10 FFG versions remain in the Spyderco lineup and become long-term classic versions themselves.

does the g0 endura open easily, some of the other spydercos I have are kinda stiff compared to say a benchmade 940. I noticed this model has a bushing so that should help, I too am interested in this knife.

Yep you are right, I just say because well I don't have a knife that is 5 1/2 inches, I am going to get the Temperance II for carry, hopefully by next month.

My G-10 Endura is a little stiff, similar to a Persian for opening, it is no where near the 943 that I have in terms of ease but is loosening up quite nicely with use. Wanted to order a Police 3 but Jay was out of them so I settled for the Endura instead which is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

A back lock and Axis lock are two entirely different animals. The Axis is smooth and good to go right out of the box. Most back locks have a break in period which varies from knife to knife. It would depend on how often you use it. Some do take quite some time to do so.
