This happened in about 30 seconds. Was out in Breckenridge for the week when on the way back the wife said she needed to stop off at REI and return something. We are out of towners so I put it in WAZE for the closest REI (Speer REI is a PITA) which happened to be Lakeland. Then my wife says, hey, isn't Spyderco right around the corner.. and isn't this the weekend of the Factory Second sale? I was like.. hell yeah, good call! Did a U'ey (even though I needed a Chipotle bowl in the worst way). Got in line and within an hour (felt like MUCH longer) we had a basket in hand and ready to get some deals. This is my first time and I didn't expect much. Figured pricing would be off of retail, but WOW.. the deals were amazing!! I picked up 3 paras (2 black/black S30 ($55 each) and 1 blurple S110V ($70), and a black/black Military to replace one I lost 8 years ago($75) and a Lil'LionSpy NIB with case ($100). The wife picked up a BD1 blue Manix LWT ($35), black/black Serg dog tag ($30) and a Mike Draper ($100) because it looks pretty. Grabbed 2 of each Sharpmaker stones in all grits for .50 cents each! I made the mistake of telling my wife while in line that "I know exactly what I'm looking for, so should only take 15 mins". 70 mins later....We were hot, starved, dehydrated but got some amazing deals. You are limited to 25 knives per person.. so dealers or online sellers had like 3 and 4 peeps with them to stock up. So beware of what you see in the for sale. If they have a mark/notch on the blade by the Spyderhole, they are a second. Guy in front of me checked out at $2200.. I'm sure those will be on eBay today/tomorrow. All the factory seconds don't have boxes either. Just FYI to all my fellow knifers.. if you see a "no box/papers" and has a mark/notch by the Spyderhole, it's a second. But the ones I grabbed were as good if not better than my factory originals for smooth opening and blade center. Just wanted to share my experience (on a whim). Picked up several knives as gifts for my buddies on the force that carry crap. I could have spent another $300 ($500) in there easy. Native's have always been too small for my hands.. but put 2 or 3 Maxamet ($75) and S100Vs ($55) in my basket, only to put them back in choice of the Para 2's. Just more knife for the same price (or less). Had a few Para 3's too, but just didn't feel as good as the ol' standby Para2. Honestly, you don't give up much with the P2 vs the P3, in my opinion. It's more like, do you want something round or oval.. depth is the same, just shorter or longer. Anyway.. it was a great experience and the deals were really great! I asked where the section for the Military's that had been accidentally drilled for tip-up were, and a guy didn't get my joke. He did say "That would have to be a really big screw-up". I disagreed, thank him for his cander and went about my search. The staff was really amazing for the chaos they had to endure. Thumbs up the Sal and his crew. They put on an amazing event. Well done!!!
** Sal, serious, Military with tip-up option.. just say'n (wink).
