Greetings. It has come to my attention that some of my posts to this forum over the past weeks were being interpreted as 'selling' on the forum, a strict violation of forum rules. While this was never my intention, it seems that some of you felt that this was an overt attempt by Spyderco to get some of our newest products out to our ELU's as quickly as possible, bypassing some of you in the process. Let me assure you that this idea could be no further from the truth. At Spyderco, we pride ourselves in providing our customers with a level of customer service that continually exceeds their expectations. Recently, many of you have inquired about some of our newest products, and where to get them. Both Danelle & I have responded to your queries by having you call either of us @ Spyderco/SFO. There are times when I do not have a particular item in stock (yes, it happens here too) & will gladly refer any of my customers to alternate sources so that they may find their desired knife. I've established many friendly relationships with other people in this industry over the years, & I certainly look forward to making more in the years to come.
While I do apologise for anything that could have been interpreted as 'selling', I have never posted our web address here @ SFO in any of my threads. As policy, as many of you know, I do not post pricing for any of our pruducts. Those of you who have inquired about this have either called me at the shop or emailed me at home in order to get this info.
In the short time that I have been with Spyderco, I have made a great number of freinds, both with my walk-in customers & with some of you here on this forum. I would be remiss if I did not say that I enjoy this a great deal & will continue to try & provide all of you with the best possible customer service & support for our knives. For those of you who haven't visited the shop, SFO is located in the old Spyderco building, just north of where Spyderco is today. We have been selling to the public, here in town, for over a decade. Aside from the retail shop, we also have Owen Wood's (woodcutter) shop in the back of the building. We service around 50-60 customers a day, many of those being walk-ins. Some of you were concerned that we were selling a certain sku "like crazy" a few weeks back. For us, "like crazy" is 8-10 pcs of a particular sku per week. I hope this helps clarify what type of business we do here @ SFO.
A forum, by definition, is a place for communication. The Internet is, quite possibly, the greatest forum ever created for free, uninhibited speech. Our forum is dedicated to the discussion of what we deem very importeant to us, our knives. We have established rules for discussion, and a place to air our opinions about our knives, the industry, or even another's opinion. If/when I have seen someone make a statement that could be construed as a violation of rules, or a statement that is grossly false, I will/have let them know. If the comment were not fit for posting on the forum, I would/have let the individual know via their email. I would certainly expect all of you to treat me with the same courtesy.
Once again, I do apologise for anything I may have said to upset any of you & look forward to establishing many lasting relationships with you discussing our passion, & perhaps humankind's greatest invention, the knife.

Charlie -- as an ELU I appreciate the existence of a Spydero Factory Outlet. This gives me another choice where to buy a Spyderco product if the other dealers or outlets do not have what I want. I may choose to buy from you first (depending on price and service) or not buy from you; the important thing is I like this right to choose with my wallet.

I don't mind you posting here and would even like for you to show your URL and email add in your sig like what the other dealers do.This is indeead a forum/marketplace for ideas and products. I believe us ELU-forumites should have access to the best information there is in the industry.

It is a different matter with dealer-forumites, though. For them, I think your SFO is not seen as a supplier of Spyderco knives, but as a competitor. As such, I suggest you discuss this issue inside the Manufacturers, Distributor and Dealer private forum.

I would be remiss if I did not step into the fray and toss in my 2 cents worth... I reccommend SFO as a great place to shop, hang out and soak up KnifeKnowledge. As for advertising, I am probably the major offender. Well TS, I shop at SFO and tell ALL my friends for great service and products shop SFO. Sorry Charlie!
