Wow! What a great place! Danelle was the greatest tour guide. Sal was a gentleman, ladies were gorgeous, and all were happy. Neat place to work. Met Vince and saw and handled a BF Native, you guys that don't have one ordered should think seriously about this one! Sal took me to the test lab, I took pictures, but can't get them to post. (Someone email me and I will attach them to you to post) Saw some "in the works" stuff (Thanks Chief Engineer!) that will be on my wish list. Great place!

Im jealous! I would love to tour the Spyderco factory. I would feel like a kid in a candy store again!

Hey Copfish,

Got some pics courtesy of William.

I wanted to post it here, though I'm afraid the size might eat up the bandwidth and slow things down on this end. So I placed them on my server, and hope people can just visit the URL instead.
BTW, I left one out (the machine) coz I don't know if it's right to post it or not.. Oh well.. I think the people are more interested in the pics of the Native, and Danelle.. and Vince... and Sal... lol...

Here's the site link:

Is there an emoticon showing a facing green with envy? I'm jealous!

Thanks for the pic links, Dan!

We gotcha, Danelle!

My enigmatic self is no more....sniff pout sniff...
You can post the "destroyer" (the machine)Danny, Sal was in there when he took the picture and gave direction on what not to photograph...

Dan
Thanks for the photos.
Copfish
Thanks to you too.
Danelle
You are a woman, so you'll always be an enigma !

That is, you know, a GOOD thing.

Guys, you don't know how "nice" everyone was. I had a ball, sure beat that "groaner" meeting I ducked out of. Sal gave me a nice look into the "Lab" and Vince was a pleasure to talk to, that man has some great ideas (the Tool is very cool), start saving the sheckels now! And to top it off, Precision 4 gave me the factory store tour. Man, what neat stuff, and all I bought was a Santoku and a Titan Ti kitchen knife (@ $20 what a deal!!!)... Sal you have a great crew! Thanks again for eveything! And... lunch with Danelle was a pleasure!

Oh yeah, the mini Police necklace is verrry nice! Too bad all the employees bought up the supply. Also, I saw information that the lock on the Military is stronger than a knife billed as having the strongest lock... Hmmm, makes you think...

Wow, I am a bit envious. Sounds like you got the VIP tour! Lunch with Danelle. (Did you get stickers too?) Sal personnally showing Sypderco's inner scanctum...

I got to find a "work related" meeting in Golden somehow...

Hi Copfish.
It was great meeting you, Its nice to put a face to a name.
Thanks for the cup.
For the rest of you folks Danelle is the good looking one,"NO" she's the one with the shades on.
Well back to makeing blue Natives.
Vince.

Copfish,
You definitely scored big with that tour, and with having lunch with the esteemed "Danelle"! I can imagine how much fun you really had, as everyone from Spyderco that we get to talk to here is extremely pleasant. Like shootist16's phrase, "like a kid in a candy store", I would feel the same! I think that phrase would pretty much be the consensus for most of us! It's nice that Sal let you take some pics, that you were willing to do so, and that Dannyc took care of us anxious forumites!

One of these days, Vince... one of these days....
Danelle
BTW...someone got ammo? ahem, I believe i was told I would get ammo.....=)

Danelle,

Oh, I am quite sure someone would be willing to trade you some ammo for....say, that nice little trinket around your neck. Am I wrong?
Oh, I don't think so.
Seriously though you guys at Spyderco are great for treating Copfish so well. I only hope I can get the same kind of treatment if and when I make it out there.
Now to look for an excuse to go TDY to Colorado....Hmmm, "Yes sir, that is the only place they offer the recertification course this year." Yeah that's the ticket.

Hi guys!

Yikes! Ammos?!?!

Bye, guys!!

lol.. seriously, I would like to thank Copfish for providing us with the pics, for William for sending it to me directly, as in asap!
smile.gif
And to the Spyderco people like Sal, Danelle, and Vince, for taking time out to pose for us!
smile.gif

Hmmm.. Sal looks like he's saying "come and get it" with a sheepish grin.. lol...

Danelle, is that destroyer supposed to be what I think it's supposed to be, as the name implies? What does it "destroy" then?

Another note, the factory/headquarters is a smallish red brick building, clean, modern (I'll try to find a way to post the lobby shots I took) and open. The "Lab" has several neat machines, one is a cut tester that uses special paper and does computer controlled cutting. The Destroyer does just that. What a fun job breaking things... I now have full faith in my Military lock now.

Just another thought. If you get to Colorado, both the Factory and Ironstone are MUST VISITs. Ironstone had some killer Ti (tainum) kitchen knives at a blow-out $20 each! A great wife offering to help sneak in the other stuff you get at the Store!
