I'm just saying, it would break my heart to see a bunch of Spyderco die-hards unified under a banner being jerks and bullying people that don't share their enthusiasm for Spyderco around the forums.
I agree that Sal as a leader would make a huge difference, but I really doubt Sal has any interest in this.
Sorry, I wasn't assuming/implying he would be a leader of this club, just a leader in general. He sets a good example and does have some expectations or at least requests as to how to treat people. His "Questionable tag lines & shiny footprints" thread is a great example of what I am talking about. I think we should keep this in mind, "If you would like to be closely associated with Spyderco, which we greatly appreciate, it would be our wish that you consider leaving shiny footprints rather than hostile feelings, whjere Spyderco is concerened."
don't ya think your jumping to Conclusions?
I don't think any one here is gonna be like that.
Questionable tag lines & shiny footprints
This is a sensitive subject, so I would appreciate your patience and understanding.
The hostility that seems to appear on the forum makes it an uncomfortable place to be. This is opposite the intention.
Much of the hostility seems to be centered around the "round hole issue".
After listening to comments, discussion and much thought (which requires time becausae I'm sometimes slow), I have a request.
I am asking you to pull any tag lines or comments that could be percerived as hostile or antagonistic to other companies in the knife industry, while on our forums.
I realize that to many, it is an important issue, and I will admit to being sensitive myself, but a negative approach is not good for the industry or Spyderco in the industry.
Intelligent, civil communication is more valuable.
We have always tried to "leave shiny footprints" where ever we go. I personally have tried to avoid negative comments towards other companies. (No, I'm not perfect either ) I think it serves to keep thoughts about Spyderco and other companies more positive than negative.
If you would like to be closely associated with Spyderco, which we greatly appreciate, it would be our wish that you consider leaving shiny footprints rather than hostile feelings, whjere Spyderco is concerened.
thanx much for your cooperation and kind understanding.

I've seen that gang mentality here, before. hence my opposition.
I associate the brand with Thomas' thinly-veiled, sarcastic attitude toward members and the gang mentality of his followers. It's not as bad as it used to be, when it ran rampant all over the forums, but defensive tone and the pile-ons in the Kershaw forum are still outrageous.
And I'm well aware that Spyderco has a lot of fanboys, here. My point is that they shouldn't be organized and turned into a gang. Dealing with them individually is bad enough.
Fair enough. You know if you read up on this thread, you may have a little more faith than you do now. Many of your concerns are the same as what others including myself have already voiced. I for one will not be a part of some gang out to troll bladeforums, and trust me, if it comes to that the responsible folks on here won't hesitate to shut it down. It's funny that I'm actually in the process of drafting a code of conduct which includes staying true to Sal's mission of avoiding shiny footprints and holding one's self accountable for their posts understanding that having Spyderco in your sig, one must be held to a certain standard, especially when a discussion involves Spyderco. I imagine being a member might make questionable behavior more difficult as guys like you will be so quick to point out that any positive opinion about Spyderco given by a club member is automatic fanboyism lol. It has been asked what is the purpose of the club numerous times and in its simplest form, it is to identify yourself as a Spyderco enthusiast (someone who likes their knives) to the rest of Bladeforums and nothing much else. We'd like to make a strong statement that elitism which perhaps may be prevalent in other clubs won't fly with us here. One because we wont let it. Practically anyone can join, no crazy hoops to go through like its some secret special society, all you need is a knife and some contributions to the subforum via posts. At this point, you seem to be the only one here namecalling fanboys and calling out entire Knife companies, their reps etc. You see, fanboys will be around regardless, you will still have to "deal with them individually". Let the mods worry about their job. I have plenty things in life that I do not like, it is not a perfect world. Sometimes you just gotta deal with it. The group it looks like is gonna materialize. If you are so concerned, join us and help us keep an eye out for members that get out of hand. You can be the security dude. lol
Why don't we wait for Sal to weigh in? I think that's appropriate before any of this moves forward.
Hmm, interesting. I wonder if you've owned half the Spydercos I have? If you had been around longer than a few months, you might realize that I've been a huge fan of Spyderco knives for nearly a decade. I've contributed more to this forum and purchased more Spyderco knives than most of you ever will...we can only hope!! that would be BADASS!!
and as for the gang mentality, lets just say this forum is for spyderco lovers. if you have anything other to say....SAY IT IN THE GENERAL KNIFE DISCUSSION.
No, I'm defending myself. I was just accused of not being a fan of Spyderco, and told to go to General discussion.I don't care how long you've been on bf your just being Arrogant now.
Fair enough.
For the record, I never called anybody a fanboy. I merely acknowledged that they are about.
You are quick to call me out and dismiss me, but I've been here for a long time. I've read many unfortunate things. I've seen a good deal. Gang mentality has never been a positive thing, here.
I know you intentions are positive.
Why don't we wait for Sal to weigh in? I think that's appropriate before any of this moves forward.
