Spyderco Fan group

true enough, and I agree with all the points brought... however there is probably a point of .......vanity? or possibly elitism in my thought process. but again i do understand that in owning using and endorsing the knives is being a fan.
Elitism? Here? You are mistaken friend. This is a friendly place where we talk knives. You must be thinking of other knife manufacturers.
i dont really feel any sense of being better (for the record) i actually am rather new to the forums and to the hobby in general. I just was looking for a way to express a fondness for Spyderco's product

Like I said, no elitism here. Just people that get good value for their money. You want a way to express your fondness for the hobby in general? Buy yourself a membership to Bladeforums, learn about the knives you have, learn about the steel in those knives, share what you know and learn what you can. That is the way.

Oh man, now thats funny stuff right there:p

I had no idea you had to be all that smart to be in a "Fan Club"....then again I'm not, and not even close to being in the elite, so that just may be why I don't get it:confused:

I do know a little about knives, if that counts for anything around here:p

lol i knew even as i typed it that i would catch flack for that one, oh well i was asking for it. I'm still learning about the knives so the fact that you are a little knowledgeable about them is the reason I'm hear, to learn as much as i can about a hobby i enjoy. So aside my "smart" comment i really just like to learn and I have taken a liking to Spyderco's products.

That is the plan! and i didn't want to implying that there was elitism within the forums, actually its been an excellent experience so far here. I was probably look more for a sense of belonging to the spyderco fan club (again i concede to the point of owning, carrying, and promoting the product which I have no problems with :D)

The best way I can think to show that you are a fan is to give one away and convert a non-knife person or two to a Spyderco carrier.

If you love something, give it away...

Im trying currently to convince my wife to carry spyderco

actually that was my plan, but she isn't fond of the aesthetics of spyderco. Actually i had her draw what she wanted and i fear the only way to get what she drew is to have it made, so i either have to get her a custom knife or find something she likes.......

Bummer on that, it's going to cost a small fortune.

I put a purple ladybug on hte wife's keys and she ended up using it a ton more than she ever thought. I've had to sharpen it a few times already. I recently swapped it for a H1 Ladybudy Hawkbill and she loves that one too. She is getting a Dragonfly ZDP for the purse soon.

Sounds like a good deal, and yes ive been looking at the customs being made and while i think its possible to create what she wants i cant really spend a small fortune to get it..... or i would. but ill see what she like that's production and go from there
