I like the Endura FFG knife. It can peel potatoes, open boxes and cut zip ties with ease, but my work mates make fun of the thin blade. They say it will snap too easily. The blade has never broken or chipped and it's sharper than all of their knives combined. It's the VG-10 model. Anyway, I was thinking of maybe buying a saber ground blade in VG-10 because it is thicker, but I wanted to ask here first. Has anyone ever broken a FFG Endura blade doing normal EDC cutting tasks?

Thanks

Knives are not pry bars. Keep the Endura and get one of those pocket pry bars and have the best of both worlds. A knife that actually cuts and pry bar that won't break.

FTR, I have never broken a pocket knife since I only use them for knife tasks.

All this talk of folder strength gets pretty ridiculous. Especially considering 99% of the population has never broken one, even during heavy abuse.

Knives, especially folders, are for cutting and slicing. That's it. Thinner cuts better. Period.

Start taking away from or compromising the ONE thing they were meant to do well and they aren't very good for anything.

Get some new friends.

As stated above- don’t use them as a pry bar. I use FFG Endura’s in VG10 as chores knives at my remote cabin. I use them, but do not treat them as I do my fixed blade chores knives. They are great knives and take screaming edges. They lock up tight and have no blade play. Are there more durable folders?- of course, but Enduras are great.

What the others said. I've not heard of a FFG Endura breaking.

I have both FFG and saber ground Enduras. The saber ground gets more carry time, but that's just me. I like saber ground blades.

I have a saber-ground Endura 4 combo edge and it's friggin BOMB PROOF! That said, my wife has the standard flat-ground E4 in plain edge and she's never had a problem with it. Keep in mind though, we only use our knives as cutting tools.

Probably not going to break a Spyderco , using it as intended .

But: If you need ,or just want, a "hard use " folder for emergency / survival , suggest you look at Cold Steel Tri-ad lock , Taiwan made models .

Like AD-10 , 4 Max etc . Value versions can be found on sale for ~$40 .

Built much sturdier than most folders , and even many fixed .

And , they still cut stuff just fine !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’d put my K390 Endura up against anything out there in a cutting contest.

I don't pay attention when others talk out their a$$. They are defending their choices by putting down yours. That has been going on since cavemen were comparing their favorite rocks sitting around the fire.

I have carried Enduras since 1992 daily. If I didn't want to try out new versions I could be using my first one. It's still here ready for another 32 years. If that is the knife you like and it works for you then it is the best knife. I pretty much have all the versions just because I wanted to try out new features but any one of the ones I have can be used as my EDC for the rest of whatever life I have left. With basic care and reasonable use they just never seem to wear out.

If I was a Buck guy or a Cold Steel guy I'm pretty sure the same thing could be said.

This was my second Spyderco (long ago) and it is a true tank. The saber ground has a pretty stout point. I didn't have a choice at the time so I bought the combo edge, but I somehow dislike the combo edge. Any combo edge for that matter. I feel I don't have enough edge length of either type. I would happily trade it for a plain or serrated edge.

I have other FFG Spydercos (Military, Paramilitary, Resilence, etc.) but one of these days I will certainly buy a FFG endura in plain edge.
