Hi, I want a fixed blade for the outdoors, and I'm starting to like Spyderoc's designs and steel. Can anyone prefer a model, I would prefer not the Hossum Models , I like them a ton but too pricey.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

The Temperance is discontinued but still available, or at least they show up on eBay fairly regularly. It is an excellent all-around knife, and can be found either PE or SE.

I'm after a Temperance SE. I was quoted about $125USD. Is that a reasonable price? It seems harder to find SE rather than the plain ones I have seen on eBay at the moment.

The Temperance is truly a great all purpose fixed blade. You can use it for anything from skinning to kitchen work. I have a set that I use for nothing but kitchen work and it is a great knife. I have found so many uses for mine.

I was late getting on the bandwagon. I didn't get my first one till they announced they were discontinuing it. I currently have 2 sets of them ( PE & SE) and mine are not for sale. But like YAB says they show up on Ebay quite frequently and you can usually nail one for between $65 to $85 depending on how lucky you are. Also don't hesitate to buy a used one. They are so rugged that they are one knife I would buy used in a heartbeat.

Spyderco is really going to have to pull a rabbit out of their hat to beat the Temperance fixed blade model. It truly is a classic already.
