Spyderco for Fishing

The Catcherman looks interesting, but are the Salt versions out yet? They're big, too. I believe the original was almost 6" closed & the blade nearly 5".

My 1st thought is a Salt Series (Atlantic or Pacific Salt, depending on the blade shape you prefer). If it's only going to be around fresh water & the wave feature is that important, then a waved Delica/Endura is the way to go.

However, as good as VG-10 is (Rust resistance), keep in mind that Florida has some pretty intense humidity. Personally, I'd just stick with a Salt series knife & be done with it. Nice thing about the Salts is that yellow handles are available & pretty handy in that type of environment, IMHO.

My go to folder for fishing & such is a yellow handled Atlantic Salt. Mine's PE, but SE works, too.

Good luck.

A Spyderco Salt knife should work great for you. I've been EDCing a Spyderco Salt 1 for around 4 years now (no other knife has survived as my regular EDC for longer than six months).

It takes a good edge, sharpens easily, and it's basically maintenance free with no risk of rust. They really are great knives.

I dont mean to hijack the thread but does anybody think a CRKT dogfish would do well for fishing/crabbing? not worrying about rust
