So I just got my Street Beat from the brown truck. No pics yet.

When this knife came out a couple years ago I thought it was interesting but I wasn't looking for a smallish FB so I never really considered it.

Lately I've been wanting a smallish fixed blade to handle everyday tasks. I really like my VG-10 spydercos. They hold a good edge and are really easy to touch up with a steel. I get a little tired of sharpening the S30V blades.

It has a nice and thick full tang but the taper and full flat grind should make it cut like mad.

I recommend anyone looking for a small-medium fixed blade look at the Street Beat. It's a handy little blade. Not really defensive at all. I totally dismissed it at first, but now I plan to use it as my main fixed blade.

I've been eyeing one myself for awhile now, more as a general purpose all-around fixed blade, than as a true self defense knife (no doubt it would serve well, but I have more dedicated tools for that purpose). Never had a chance to hold one or see one in person, however. Let us know how you like it after a while and post pics if you can. 'Grats on the new purchase and thanks!

I need to shoot picts, though I don't know when I'll have time. The whole fam is sick and I've got a lot going at work.

After handling it, I don't think it's fair to call it an SD knife. I think a lot of people in this forum would really appreciate it.

Here are a few found pictures:

There is a great review on the Spyderco forum:

I've heard alot of people like them, a local hunting shop owner swears by his. He did try to trade it off to me for my milie. freggin nut.:D

Its overall ergos is what draw's me to it, its very appealing. One of these days.......

My one complaint is the 90 degree edges on the forward part of the choil (it's not a choil if it's the handle, right?).

Those two corners need to be rounded off.

I have a hand made perrin that im too afraid to use so im biding my time until i find one cheap. i love all of freds designs.

I totally agree with you on VG-10. It is probably my favorite stainless. Easy to sharpen, takes a fine edge without much effort.

Sometimes I wonder if my S30V blades are worth the effort.

That's one of the things that put the Street Beat on the short list. I love my VG-10 blades. I have 6+ S30V blades and I loath sharpening them (especially in one long session!).

So when it was time for a new fixed blade, I didn't want S30V. And VG-10 is a great stainless. I have a bunch of carbon blades, too. The last 3-4 fixed blades were carbon.

This one needed to be stainless, it rains a lot here!
