Spyderco G-10 Police

Okay, it's time for an update:

Over the last year or so I have strayed from the G-10 Police several more times, ever in search of something better.

I carried the Benchmade 551 plain-edge Griptilian for a while (it is an awesome knife, but I can't get used to that hollow feeling and hollow sounding handle).

And then I discovered the Native III.
The Native III is one of Spyderco's best designed knives IMO.
It is small and light-weight, so it's the one that I carry when I'm wearing very light clothing or out jogging or at the gym.
But I still found myself craving G-10 and a longer blade.

And that brought me right back to my G-10 Police.

Of all the knives that I own and all the knives that I've seen at shops and shows and online, I can't find any knife that I like better than the G-10 Police.
The only knives that I'm currently considering are the Spyderco SS Police and an Al Mar micarta handle lockback.

One of the greastest things about the G-10 Police is that, even though it has a long blade and a long handle, it can be used with amazing precision.
It does'nt handle like a large knife.
It is long, sleek, elegant, and strong, and makes many other knives I have used feel downright clumsy and awkward.

So far, it is still "THE ONE".

Cheers,
Allen.

I almost forgot that I had this knife.

This just inspired me to start carrying it again.

Me too!

allenC,

The Police G-10 was my second Spyderco - the first one was the Wayne Goddard (GIN-1 steel, micarta handles) - and it was my EDC for a long time - before I got a Wegner.

Recently (last Cristmas) I finally bought a SS Police with VG-10 blade. The G-10 one is a pefect cutter/slicer, and the SS is a legend. It has a special appeal.

My present EDC is a Lil' Temperance (PE leaf S30V) but I turn often to G-10 Police as a companion knife.

I would love to have a micarta Wayne Goddard with a plain-edge--now that knife would be awesome!

I had a micarta Goddard Jr. and I really loved that it is flat above the thumb-hole without the Spyderco hump, and the spine is smooth curved.
But I gave it to my brother-in-law because it has the combo edge and now I prefer a plain-edge.

Cheers,
Allen.
