Spyderco General Chat Thread

Spyderco take the Blade Show 'Imported Knife of the Year' Award for the Nirvana, congrats to them! I just hope we DO see it this year.

I'm wondering why one of my threads was moved from the Spyderco sub to Gen Dis? The thread was specific to Spyderco's PM2 compression lock performance and the subsequent discussion was very informative to Spyderco fans. Even if the majority of posts disagreed with the validity of the test and the outcome, I believed the thread was relevant to Spyderco, not General Discussion.

Nevermind, I see it got dumped because some people started comparing apples and oranges, and not talking about Spyderco. Thanks a lot Guys!!

Knife education questions:

I have been around the Spyderco sub for a while now, and seen many video reviews concerning a myriad of folding knives, and somtimes, I have no idea what some of these people are talking about when using slang terms to describe certain knife functions or appearance.

Specifically the terms; Slop, Lock stick and snail trail

I have looked through the net and on YT and I cannot find out what these terms mean, and in the case of "snail trail" I have no idea what a sail trail on a knife looks like. Can someone please define these terms? Thanks

Slop would refer to blade play, lock stick means there is resistance when disengaging the lock, and snail trails are the rub marks that develop on titanium scales from carry and use. Not scratches, just marks that are lighter than the rest of the scale.

On a different note, of looks like the GB2 may be dropping very soon... Knifeworks has started charging credit cards for preorders. :-)

Thanks. I figured "slop" was blade play, but wasn't too sure. Lock stick, I'm not sure how to tell that too much, other than I think my DB has some of that...no worries, it lets me knoe the lock is working. Since I don't have any Ti knives, I'm not surprised I didn't know the snail trail term.

Thanks

On the GB2: I almost hit the pre-order button, but at the last second I balked. I really can't afford any knives at the moment.
