Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a spyderco knife for my friend's birthday. He lives in the Yukon and does a fair amount of fishing and hunting. Any recommendations as to what model would best suit these purposes?

For fixed blades the Street Beat would be my suggestion and for folders the Chinook 3 looks like it would be good for fishing/hunting needs.

Both Morans are a good choice for his tasks, I use a FB01 over the past years and I'm still happy. The boltaron sheaths have good quality and hold the knife very well.

As folder, also useable for skinning, I recommend Stretch 2 in FRN (you have to be patient, as the FRN isn't released yet and carbon version is pricy), or as said before a Military.

And now my last idea for a nice combination: a Moran and a Tenacious is in your price range ... he would have a fixed and a folder ... just my 0,02 €-cents :)

Grab an Spyderco Mule in CPM S90V and have Tom Krein, Potterma, or one of the other very capable members here put a handle on it and make a sheath. Just my two cents.

I'd want a thincker blade for hunting purposes than the Centofante 3. I'd get a PE Endura or a Military.

The first cut with this knife was on venison, and it really does a good job!

Hunting fishing you say? Something from the Salt series would be my first recommendation. Next would be the Military.
