Spyderco Gunter

Greg:
thanks for the kind words on the Gunting System...
sorry about the tape snafu..
my video Producer George was in a car accident..
that set him back a bit..hospital and all that..
your full set is on the way..Gunting Instructors series and my Conceptual Knife as well..
Your live blade is coming from my personal collection NIB...
it went out priority insured yesterday!
Watch out is NIB and very sharp!

No problemo folks..the Gunting is still with us..it might not get the advertising but it sure gets articles and press...

As for the LEo group..The Gunting was designed with you in mind..
its the ONLY edged tool designed to go from Non Lethal to less than Lethal to Lethal and back again..
That's why the lock release is where its at..Its a natural closing of the fist to get to it..
As for disengaging the lock at the wrong time..you cannot get it to open in your hand with usage or during a struggle..The lock release must move perpendicular to the line of action..and it's a one handed closer..If you do not bail out,,you hold the knife..you'll see that the blade rests a notch on your index finger stopping it from closing or letting the sharp edge near you..
So accidental closing , an almost imposible feat..is set up with a secondary stop..

Train with a Drone..that's what its there for..
NO don't get a fixed blade cause you think if I use a holster or the clip whats the point..The Gunting is designed to be used CLOSED..an impavct tool..NOT a cutter..a fixed blade cuts..period..
A Gunting impacts, traps, locks, takedowns,, breaks out glass ( windows and windshields) ad infinitum...
A Gunting can do less then lethgal cutting and as in the old original worker..open partially to do controlled cutting..
Then in Lethal mode.. exposed blade it still can do non lethal control and takedowns etc..
and within the flow of combat or usage move up and down the force continuum scale..

I have for example : ATF, SS, USBP, DEA and others using the tool.. I have uniformed officers and undercover guys using the tool..
I have anti Terror units using the tool..

You want optuons within the flow of usage? use a Gunting..want to cut someone right aaway?
get a Wave from Ernie.nothing opens faster..

take your choice..
NOW...Ernie Emerson knives!!
WHEN...Spyderco Bram Frank Gunting..

be safe

Bram

BRAM is right about nothing opening faster than a wave. I have both waved EKI knives and Gunting, drone, vids, etc. I love both. Even if you just want to use it as a knife, the Gunting is a great tool.

Don't worry about that lock. It is THE strongest locking knife that Spyderco makes, period.

As for carry. I want to get a belt sheath to try it out. That said, I carry mine in the pocket of my jeans or SOB IWB. Both work well. With slacks or dockers though, a belt or pocket sheath would be my prefered way of carry. Try it out for yourself with the pants you usually wear. Only then will you know if the pocket clip is enough or to go with a sheath or two.

Welcome to the blade world.

Oh, and about your question about a good small fixed blade. Check out the CRKT Polokowski/Kasper. It is a cool knife. The sheath sucks so count on buying a custom made sheath , but the whole setup would probably cost you around the same as you paid for your Gunting.

Enjoy your new knife.
