Spyderco harpy...

I hope they also add some more of those dragonflys with the custom scales. Lots of new knives I want now after viewing that site. It's all your fault!!

I wonder if there is enough demand to do a sprint run of SS Harpy's in plain edge?

sal

Mr. Glesser I know that a Sprint Run of a PE Harpy would go over well>> I've personally talked to quite a few people in the past year who not only want the G-10 Harpy to return in a Sprint Run but they also want them to be available in PE & SE both. I know I'll get one of each for sure and I know I'm not alone.

But more than anything I think the G-10 Harpy would outsell the stainless model but I do think that both the stainless and G-10 Harpy models would not disappoint you all at Spyderco. Also I don't know if you've noticed but there seems to be a growing interest in Hawkbills across the board in the landscaping and gardening sectors of the market. I've seen several threads here recently where they guys say they use Spyderco's Hawkbills for those types of jobs.

It would be extremely interesting to see if any of the gardening catalogs like A.M. Leonard would market them in their catalogs. I bet they would do well.

Ill take two with carbon fiber or g 10 handles... any color. I never go the appeal of stainless steel handles.

That would a good idea because the other Sprint Run of the carbon fiber Harpy did well from what I remember>> they also became extremely coveted collector pieces later on.

But I do believe a G-10 Harpy in PE & SE both would be the "Cat's Meow" for sure.

If his sprint does happen, please drill it for tip up as well. Then it would be the ultimate hawk bill. A carbon fiber h1 spyderhawk would be awesome but that's just a pipe dream, I'll just have to settle for frn. I think serrated h1 is the perfect steel for hawkbills.

Having a G-10 Harpy with the "tip-up" or "tip-down" option would be nice. I'm also wondering if it isn't high time to try a combo-edged option on a Hawkbill? I really would like to see it on a big Hawkbill like the Spyderhawk model but I think it would be interesting on a Harpy model.

Also to make a Sprint Run unique why not a stonewashed blade as well? Personally my overall preference is a full Spyderedge on almost all of my USER Hawkbill blades.

I prefer full spyderedge for hawkbills and H1 knives as well. I wish i could get my hands on another spyderhawk h1 as a backup in case I lose mine diving.

There is something really special about the full Spyderedged Spyderhawk that the Harpy even lacks>> you can just have a ton of confidence with a rough/tough cutting job with a full SE, H-1 Spyderhawk. Albeit the Harpy is almost the perfect companion blade to go with just about any PE folder that is your main EDC blade.

Both models really are great in their own distinct genre>> I really got sold with my original VG-10 Spyderhawk years ago when it took it by mistake>> it was one of the best mistakes I ever made because it cut through a bunch of swamp weeds, cattails, reeds and vines better than any other fully serrated Spyderco blade I had up to that point.

But my G-10 Harpy was my perfect companion blade for years and for it's size it did a great overall job. If most knife users were to give the Harpy a really good try out I believe that most of them would want one for a companion blade to their main EDC.

Old thread, I know... But if a sprint run would be available for a Norwegian buyer like myself, then I would be in for a plain egde – no matter SS or G-10.

I love all Spydercos but I can't promise I'd pick one up. A local physician (Dr. H. Lecter) said he's be in for TWO however.
