Just ordered a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 (camo G10 with CPM-S30V black blade). Supposedly to show up next Friday. Looking forward to it!

I discovered Spyderco back in the 90's. No idea of the model I had at the time (old Delica? pocket clip was molded into the handle) and some time ago I somehow got parted with it. I recall being so smitten with my old Spyderco almost 20 years ago that I bought one for my boss at the time as a present as he was leaving for a new job. I think I thought it was a bigger deal than he did! It would be great to hear from others who also "found" Spyderco decades ago...

I recently got a Firefly to carry at work (desk job). A lovely little VG10 blade (though way too expensive for what it is). Wanted the PM2 for weekend carry. A little more capable.

Cheers all.

I've had this old Police SE a long time. Spyderco was for me the first pocket-clipped, one handed folder - and that birthed a fledgling new knifeknut in the form of me.

I've written my story before but I'll repeat it once again.

My first encounter with Spyderco was immediately after the Delica and Endura were introduced. That was either 1989 or 1990--don't recall when exactly. I was at a gun show with a little cash to spend and a guy had a booth selling the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker as well as knives. He had the newly introduced Delica and Endura on display and I immediately became intrigued. They were not the prettiest knives I had ever seen but their innate ugliness attracted me. I bought a Delica and a Sharpmaker that day. Within a few weeks I had lost the knife.

Another gun show was in town about six months later and I attended specifically to see if the guy selling ugly knives was back again. The same booth was there but it was a lady doing demonstrations and selling knives the day I was there. I talked with her for a few minutes and bought a fully serrated Endura. I told her I had lost the Delica and I thought I might be able to better keep up with a larger knife. I kept up with it alright. I carried and used that Endura for around 10 years...used it, dulled it and sharpened it until the serrations were only slightly there. I bought another Endura eventually (along with a couple dozen other Spydercos through the years) but nothing never stuck with me like that original model. I still have it today, retired now, but it's still as tight as the day I bought it.

Later I recall reading that Sal and his wife made the gun show circuits, selling their products. I don't know if it was them at the shows I attended or not. Whoever they were, I'm thankful to them for introducing me to those ugly knives.
