I'm Endura guy as well, and usually buy from Amazon. With the fakes proliferation, I studied Les Garten video and did my own check as well. From the 'teeth' around Endura flat panel and the butt end of the handle, both seems to be original. The fakes are missing those teeth around panel & one tooth at the butt end.

On the blade, if you clean the blade, the VG10 should show the orange peel texture that's unique. Old tang marking was stamped, new one lase etched, so the difference is normal.

For further info, check this and several posts back.

Edit to add the 'sheen' that is VG10 special: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1357140-Strange-Delica-4-Logo

Ive noticed the teeth on the handles, i can normally tell right off by looking at the handles. My differences are mainly in the blades. Thanks for the 'sheen' link.

Im definitely an Endura guy as well, well im a big fan of the larger frame Spyderco's.

I do most of my purchases online through eBay or Amazon. So im always in a rush when the package arives, to open it and verify its real.

Well,

You have more Enduras than me
I think if you can check the sheen is the same, they're good to go as a lot of people say VG10 has the special one.

My VG10 Sabre Ground has the grind line stopped short like your left one. There are variations there, shouldn't be a concern.

Lastly, the fakes spine has the finish rub tang to tip, while the genuine one is perpendicular. It's another sign if you're looking. Check your Cara cara, it's spine is tang to tip as well (I guess all China made ones are like that).

I honestly would not worry about either knife. Between differences that can be attributed to normal production variances that occur even between knives in the same batch, differences resulting from equipment replacement in the 4.5 years between the knives, and those resulting from intentional changes made during that time, they all can be explained.

On the other hand, if your paranoia level is such that you need further reassurance, send both knives to Spyderco with a check for $5 to cover return shipment and ask them to verify their authenticity.

I never considered that, good to know if i have something come up in the future. Thanks Deacon

One on eBay, and the other was a local buy...

That makes it a little more difficult to tell. Still, they both look completely genuine to me.

In the future, if you buy from an authorized Spyderco dealer you'll never have to worry about it. Saving a few bucks isn't worth the headache of wondering if your knife is genuine.

I suppose there's always the possibility that someone bought a genuine knife, put a fake back in the box, then returned it. But I think most dealers would catch that, or at the very least they wouldn't turn around and sell a returned knife as brand new.
