Spyderco is JUNK

Grover_Cephas,

Yeah, that is ironic :D I caught that right after I posted it, but it was too late and it was quite amusing to me.

...yep, looks like I've made a friend here folks...

An excerpt from the lastest fairy tale by our newest troll, my friend and yours, 'Gunnerguy'...

(Now this is true love!) ;)
-------------------------------------

Screw off you whinney cheap mizerly little worthless **** and pull your head out of your ass before you speak.

It's amazing how stupid & illiterate you are and did you even bother to read any of my replys, including my Sypderco post? Yeah......it's all my fault that their knife broke in 2 and they wouldn't even bother to repair or replace it. That's a great way to treat a customer but according to you, who knows NOTHING, it was my attitude that caused them not to help me. You're a brilliant detective and you should have your own TV show.

I'm sure your extensive experience (2 years part time) blows me away. Gee.......I was only the GM of the largest gunstore in LA for 5 years, then I traveled around the gunshow circuit for another 8 years, then I opened a very sucessful pawnshop and sold it after 5 years, then I took a year off and traveled around the world, so I guess you've got me beat.

I guess you're so much better than I am, that I'll have to bow to your superior knowledge and I'll just run away with my tail between my legs.

Let me ask you something, are you truly this stupid or are you just playing with everyone so they'll take pity on you?

I've bought 4 estates of guns the last year and the profit from 1/2 of them was enough for the down payment on a new house 1 mile from the beach in the Seal Beach area. So I'm guessing that I'm not as stupid as you think I am when it comes to buying & selling anything.

My "diatribe" comes from having to deal with lowlife strokes like you on the web who, because you're not face to face, think you can steal or take advantage of someone who doesn't know about a particular item like you do.

I'm sorry if I insulted you by wanting a "FAIR" price for a knife that's pretty rare and I don't go around trying to steal every item like you do.

FYI, I've got 300-350 knives that I've collected over a 20 year period and most of them, I'll sell for 50% back of retail, but I'd rather give them away and take the deduction, than to let a little punk like you make a dime off of them.

Just to let you know, I'm consigning my custom knives with a large dealer who's not trying to rip me off and he'll make his 20% by being honest, not like some ****ing pussy like you.

Don't email me back because you'll only start to piss me off.

F*CK OFF C*NT (the *'s were my addition. -m)
-----------------------------------------------

I'm starting to piss him off? I'm starting to piss him off? Cool! :D

I had this MUNG MUNCHING Assrimmer pegged as a troll from the start. I so LOVE it when people prove me right.

Why on Gods Green Earth would someone with as much experiance and this assclown claims to have start a pissing contest with someone over a trade that went south? I mean Jessus if someone makes you and offer you don't find reasonable, you try and see if you can come to a reasonable middle ground. It's called haggling. If you don't understand good business practice, DON"T PRACTICE BUSINESS.

Hmmm can we be sure that this guy has any of the 'experience' he so willingly talks about? Sounds like he's lucky to have the 'experience' of being let out in public. I think it's safe to assume that the guy at Spyderco he spoke with wasn't the one with the attitude problem.

"Don't email me back because you'll only start to piss me off"

Melvin, what's next? Is he going to say that his daddy can beat up your daddy? :D :D :D

No buddy, better than that...

Now, of course I 'just' had to email him back...failure to do so would have been uncivilized... :D

I simply asked him why he felt the need to be so rude? And, did he actually talk with people like that while in the 'real world', or was it only from behind the comfort of his keyboard?

(I'm trying very, very hard to be civil about this. If his prescription needed to be refilled, if the dog ran away, etc...then I might feel a little empathy...)

True to form, being the gentleman he is, Ray offered...no, demanded, that we meet somewhere to settle our differences...He suggested my place, I suggested the desert... ;)

(I think I understand why Ray is a little miffed, being that he now has a 'Mint' T.J. Yancy A/F for sale, and I'd only offered him $200 for it...

But, when HE originally initiated the contact, he simply said he had a Boker prototype A/F with no sheath that had been given to him, and what did I think it was worth, to me? I said, "$150-$200, maybe a little more...")

Anyhoo, I pretty much think he's a Whack-Phuck now, and I wouldn't do business with him.

The dude is weird, and weird people give me the creeps...plain and simple.

That said, I wish him well, and hope he gets the professional help that he obviously needs...soon.

Mel

p.s. I kinda think this resolves the 'issue' pertaining to the gist of his original post...

That's it you little wussy meet me at the marry-go-round at recess and bring your milk money punk. I'm gonna get my big brother to beat up your big brother too. My daddy is gonna beat up Sal Glesser too if he doesn't fix my knife that't been out of production since Jesus Christ was a Private First Class.

This thread’s initiator didn’t honor my kind request and didn’t answer clearly asked questions. Maybe this is even better because I have no intentions to get stuck in such correspondence as Melvin have shown us.

However I think that further discussion only affects this Forum good taste. Also take into consideration that each new post brings this thread onto the top of the list and makes it more attractive for reading, just seemingly of course.
So my propositions would be:
  • I would ask Moderators to do not close this thread, this would be exactly what initiator is waiting.
  • However I would kindly request everyone to do not post here anymore. Let’s show the initiator that not we can’t do continue such discussion but simply we do not want. I think this could be the mostly punishing for him and could make warning for everyone else who would like to initialize such discussion.
I don’t remember who said this (sorry), but it was said well: “Don’t feed the Troll!”

Must not have gotten that latest catalog with this one in it yet...
should be a kicker!

Hi Ray. sal here. Sorry I didn't get here sooner. Travelling lots these days (go again tomorrow).

It seems as though you are displeased with Spyderco. I thought perhaps I can help. I could find no records of a "Mariner" coming through Warrantee & repair recently. If you could give me the reference number on your denial letter, I can reference the piece.

We would not be able to replace a Mariner blade. It's been many years since we produced a Mariner model, and parts would not be available, especially in the original steel. The Mariner that you speak of is probably back from the days (1989) when you were selling Spyderco.

Of course it is always possible that a blade can break for a variety of reasons that might not be the customers fault.

If you are interested, and are willing to send either of the broken pieces to me personally, I would be happy to re-look at your problem. We have the ability to determine what caused the break. a Mariner is a very difficult blade to break as it is full thickness to the tip. If there were any defects in the blade, I would have expected them to surface in the more than 10 years since we made that knife. On the other hand, pounding on the spine with a hammer can cause a fracture which, with rust and time, might snap a blade. However, pounding on the spine with a hammer would constitute abuse.

I will be gone for a while, but if you will send your knife to me, I will do you the courtesy of a closer look as soon as I return.

My apologies for your bad experience, assuming what you say is true.
However, from my point of view, I don't think that such an experience, however negative, would suddenly and magically turn an entire good company into "junk".

On the other hand, if perhaps you made a mistake, or spoke too quickly, you could redeem your moral integrity with an apology to this group. I have seen many of the men (young and old) on this forum strong enough to do so.

Should be interesting to see what Ray Baby has to say, now that the big guy has stepped in here.

Poppa Spyder has spoken.....:D :D :D

Gunnerguy, do you have anything to say?????? :p

I've got one word for all this mess: MENDACITY

I suppose our little instigator tucked his yellow tail and ran for the hills...
Oh well, it's for the better.
:)

Well, I guess the guy is a troll. I gave him some benefit of doubt at first, his first posts sounded kind of reasonable, but now I see that Gunnerguy is trouble waiting to happen. My mistake. Oops.

Oh yeah: Darn you, Gunnerguy! Make me look like a fool! Shame on you! "I pity the fool" (Mr. T - The A Team (I think?)). Feh. And Phooey.

So there. Got that off my chest. Tennis anyone?

Marty- That was Mr. T, but it was from the Rocky Movie (2 or 3 I believe)

As far as gunnerguy, he appears to be a troll. At least he seems to have made unfounded claims due to his lack of reply to Sal's gracious offer.

I was the person on the other end of the phone at Spyderco for a time, as some of you know. I'm not going to quote specific protocols and practices, but as a general rule of consumerism, don't ever take the first "no" you get as gospel.
