I am deciding between these 2 and I was wondering if anyone had pics where both these knives where side-by-side for comparison purposes...if so please post..

First let me say thanks so much for posting those pics....cause I always see the Khukuri posted by itself, never in comparison with anything. Now that I see this I must say I am slightly disappointed. I was torn between these 2 - swaying towards the Khukuri cause I thought it would be beefier and I liked that its shape stood out...but I see the Para is much more beefier when compared side-by-side. Curious - if you use both, which do you prefer?

Hard to say really...I like them both. They're quite different knives so I'd be hard pressed to choose one over the other.

The Para is definitely much beefier I'd say.

I've used both, and ended up trading off the Khuk. I just have no use other than from a collector's stand point for using it. It did carry better in the pocket, but for EDC, it served no practical use. Nothing better than the tried and true Para could handle anyway.

Another turn off for me, was the liner lock. I didn't like that I had to really stick my thumb between the liners to disengage the lock. It's not like the one on the Millie, which is fantastic.

All in all, the khuk is a great knife, just not one I'd use for anything practical.

I'd take the para (again). Yeah, the Khuk is super thin, but it's not like the Para is some monster you can't carry anywhere. The compression lock is a good tie breaker for me.

I'd have to agree with MD13. The Para has my choice for a EDC over the Khukuri. The Para has more if a utilitarian role where, for me, the Khukuri is more a collector piece since Spyderco has not done a Khukuri style model before. Plus it's a bit on the small side for the style of blade to be used as it was intended to be. Wish they would make a much larger version or fixed blade design....that would be interesting.

Go with the Para, you wont be disappointed.

Actually the Khukuri is maybe only a millimeter thinner than the Para at most. It seems thinner because the scales are thin, but it has beefy liners. I don't think it's any lighter than the Para either.
