Any idea if Spyderco is ever gonna do another go at Kitchen Knives? I've always wanted like an 8" Spyderco Santoku with plain edge. I wonder why they stopped making them.

They are supposed to come out later this year. There is a pretty good thread about them on another forum (not sure if I can post a link to it here). PM me if you want the link.

It would be nice if Spyderco offered some kitchen knives again.
I use my Red K5 every day.

See that would be awesome. I was a little too young to appreciate the first Kitchen Set they came out with. I had no use for Kitchen Knives and just wanted folding razor sharp Spydie goodness. Now that I'm a little older and cook often... I couldn't think of a better brand of cutlery to have in my Kitchen. A Santoku made of CPM 154 or even just VG10 would be awesome. CPM S30V maybe... that might be too awesome.

I've been looking to buy a new pairing knife.... it would be awesome if they started making kitchen knives again.

Sal has mentioned that they are looking into making a new kitchen set. I believe they have sent U.S. steel (I don't recall if a specific type was mentioned) to their Chinese makers to develop prototypes. I think the set will be U.S. steel but Chinese-made to keep the price down. As long as Spyderco maintains good QC, I'm happy with that. I'd like to get a Spydie kitchen block. :)

I still have my original models K-04 & K-05 and they still serve me very well. I actually consider my Catcherman models kitchen knives and I also use my original FB05 Temperance 1 model as a kitchen knife quite often.

I use a Temperance in the Kitchen all the time myself. For some reason that particular knife gets insanely sharp for me.

I'd be interested in buying a set too.Any idea if they're in the works?

I believe sal mentioned that they would be using CTS-BD1 and be shipping it to China for production

all i want is a bread knife, a long one 8 to 10". spyderedge of course. i have quite a lot of very high end production and customs kitchen knives for everything else but i still haven't found a bread knife that satisfies me. and that's a chef qnd restaurant owner speaking.

On Spyderco's official forum, Sal has confirmed that things are moving along. The U.S. steel sent to Chinese makers has had problems with heat treating. He assured everyone that the wrinkles would be ironed out. Sal also added that a kitchen block/set is in the works. Spyderco will first be releasing a few models.

Thanks D1omedes,I'll keep my eyes open & my wallet ready.

If Spyderco had a wedding gift registry, a knife block would be just the thing to warm my fiancé up to the idea. ;)

Keeping my eyes open. For the block set. Not the registry. ;)

meh, just looked at the thread om SF. looks likethere will be nothing for me, only smallish knives, no bread knife/serrated slicer, no chef's. not a complete set in my mind, there are only small utility knives and no main work knife.
