I really dig this little guy, but haven't picked one up yet. They are all extremely beautiful pieces; I love that sleek carbon fibre, admire the cool pacific blue, but the pearl/abalone scales are simply drop-dead gorgeous with that polished pocket clip. Very classy!

Whichever scales are chosen, the Kopa is a pretty chunk o' metal, to be sure, but how's the knife itself? If there are any Kopa owners out there willing to share their opinions, I'd be much obliged!

I've got two. The CF and the Abalone / Pearl.

The Abalone is gorgeous.

They are very small knives, though. I can't comment on their utility, as I haven't carried mine, yet, nor used them to cut anything. Not saying I won't. Just haven't, yet.

And, my attempt at knife humor - the "Kopa Banana"

Great pix! No jimping on the thumb-ramp? Not that a knife like this really needs it... but I thought Spyderco was jimping everything these days (lol!)

Isn't that one the "3 Flavor"?

No jimping. Heck, my new Mini Persian doesn't have jimping, either, if I recall correctly. Wish it did.

What is "3 flavor?"

The "3 Flavor" is the scale pattern on that abalone Kopa you have there... I believe it's almost a reverse of the pearl/abalone pattern that is also offered, but I could be wrong there. It's a handsome piece, regardless!

The Persian is a nice knife. I watched a video interview with Ed Schempp where he talks about jimping and how he's not a huge fan. He's a brilliant designer, imo, and tries to make the ergos on his knives such that jimping is unnecessary. Not that I presume to speak on Mr.Schempp's behalf... :)

Yes. The abalone / pearl and pearl / abalone appear to be exact reverse patterns. I like the dark abalone better, though.

Very nice little knives you have there, fella!

...but I'm afraid the "Kopa Banana" is a little too tactical for my taste :D

I have a few of them. :D Actually, one of each flavor that Spyderco has made. It is definitely one of my favorite Spyderco designs.

Buy one and you will not regret. Great knife, I love mine. I carry and use Cocobolo few days a week. Very nice gents knife. Great ergos, never felt that I need jimpings. Couple variants you still can find at great price, but if you wait longer, than you will pay much more.
Good Luck.

Very nice Vege-Taco.

About half of the Kopa customers collected an entire set. A few of our crew did as well. I believe that it was a successful run, as a collector series. I've not designed many knives that were collectable when produced. I just usually go for the high cutting performance.

I believe they will retain their value and increase over time. The quality is the "old school timeless" kind. The design is functional, the size is socially friendly.

I want to see more Kiwi variations. That's another really neat knife that is socially friendly. :)

I bought one of the Abalone/pearl ones for my Father in Law a few Christmases ago. It's a real sweet knife, I wouldn't mind having a carbon fiber one myself someday. I personally would take the clip off and carry it more as a traditional pocket folder but that's just my inclination.

I really like my kopa. It's the giraffe bone inlay. But my only issue with it that it's such a small knife. And I usually Like to take the pocket clip off and put small knives right in my pocket. But it leaves a very ugly hole in my opinion. So I leave it on. But I really don't think the clip suits it. But other than that I very happy with it

Kopa would be a superb little gent's knife if it wasn't for the somewhat inappropriate clip being impossible to remove cleanly. It could have done without the Boye dent as well, since I can't visualize members of either the SD or "hard use" crowd carrying one.

I can second the comment about the clip. I don't need one on a small pocket knife. I have two Kopas - a carbon fiber and another in jigged bone. The carbon fiber sometimes winds up in my pocket at work. It is small enough for that location, and it works fine to open packages or envelopes, if I need to do that.

I think the Kopa really shines when I am wearing slacks. It's small enough that the knife doesn't pull my pants down, but big enough to break down boxes. (BTW, I have the Giraffe Bone and Carbon Fiber versions.):D

+1 on all above.

I can only wish that one day Spyderco will make clipless (and dentless) Kopa. Nice wood or bone would be great.

Thanks to all who took the time to post! It seems that I'd better get off my choobies and buy a Kopa before they're all gone...

Another great Spyderco! A few months ago, the Kiwi 3 stainless caught my eye: inexpensive, simple & flat pocket-friendly design, good-looking Wharncliffe blade. I couldn't pass it up and glad I didn't! My Kiwi compliments whichever bigger folder I choose for the day. Now I'm interested in getting one of the high-end ones.

Would it not be interesting to see a larger locking Kiwi? Maybe with a 3" blade? Er... 3" cutting edge, that is. A little carbon fibre or micarta on the scales...? Throw in S30V or maybe this newer M4 stuff (never tried it,) and I'd buy one for certain...

What you puchased is not a real Kiwi, it's a Chinese Gooseberry. Real Kiwis had locks. :D
