I've just read Sal's post about the Spyderco Laguiole over on the General Forum. I'm sorry I missed that one, sounds like a very nice knife. Does anybody have a picture or, better still, know if there are any lurking around anywhere.

Hmm...I was going to ask this exact same question. I started the thread linked to above and was shocked to read Sal's response. The style of a Laguiole combined with American know-how. Amazing! (And unfortunately...Gone!)

If you own this knife, and have access to a scanner, please post a picture of it! (Ah yes. BF nerd shamelessly pleading for pics of an obscure model. Pathetic.)

As far as the "To bee, or not to bee" question goes: I'm surprised that Spyderco didn't put a little spider on their version. But I guess then you would have to explain what kind of spider it is.

Clay - If no one has one, We can send one to James to scan. Some of the crew have one in their collection.

Thanks Sal, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see a picture of this knife. I just wish the internet had been around 8 years ago so that I could have found out about goodies like this when they were current

I saw a Spyderco version and a tradional one at a small knife show. They weren't for sale, but the the Spyderco was an excellent knife. Since then, I have been trying to get one of these for the longest time, ok, maybe 5-6 years. Every dealer I spoke to said their distributors listed them, but never got them in. Sometime's life is like that.

Hmmmm . . . I can't believe I have an unique talent, and I've seen good direct scans from other folks too. Maybe I should pack my scanner (it's light, it's cheap) when I come to the SHOT Show in January, and set up somewhere (presumably my hotel room, unless there's room in a corner of somebody's booth) and show how I do it. I sort of figured it out as I went along.

Sorry James - Didn't mean to abuse you. I should probably follow your lead and get a scanner in house.

James, sounds like a way to get some special Spydie dollars. Maybe you could get the first of one of the new designs for 2000.

Sal - Apology not necessary! When you send me sharp objects to scan, that means I get to play with them a little. It just seemed like I was getting special privileges, not abuse!

Got the e-mail. I'll get the image up on my site next time I get the laptop hooked up to the Net. Right now I'm hogging my kids' computer - 1000 miles from home, visiting grandkids and all.
