Yeah, smog here has been awful. Fortunately I was Stateside until the beginning of the month but it's been bad here pretty much non-stop. Indonesians burning forests for clearing is really causing issues but it is an annual event.
If you want spyderco and really want a nice companion folder I'd say its been nailed as either a military or a Manix/Manix XL.
Only other options I'd say are the tuff (which while awesome looks bulky even by my standards and I usually carry a strider SMF or large emerson) maybe a lionspy. Otherwise I'd check out cold steel and look at the finn wolf on the cheaper side or the ultimate hunter on the more expensive side. I know you were looking at spyderco but it you're carrying this folder for hard use in the woods as a backup to a chopper I'd go with a tri-ad lock, but YMMV. Just my 0.02..
I am both a Spyderco fan and a Mora fan. As stated above, Spyderco has no current or even discontinued design with the attributes of a Mora.
For what it's worth, I have been field testing the Bushcraft UK. It is the first fixed blade that I have found that allows me to leave my Mora at home without feeling ill-equipped.
