Spyderco Little Big Knives

How good of a grip can you get on the Cricket? and is it possible to sharpen that wacky blade w/o some new-fangled gadget like the sharpmaker?

I just got my Spyderco S in the mail yesterday. It came razor sharp and the handle shape is amazing. I was amazed that I could grip such a small knife with all 4 fingers and my thumb!

The "S" is almost there for me. If only they didn't cut those holes out of it, it'd be there. The only other concern I have about it is whether it's compression lock has the same issues as it's daddy, the Salsa.

The Cobra hood was eliminated in the redesign that created the S, which was originally going to be the Salsa II. I believe the detent was also improved on the S, but I'm with you on the blade cutouts. I can just see me trying to get tar, glue or peanut butter out of all those little corners

Sharpening the Cricket is best done on a round or triangular stone. I use a DMT serration sharpener (diamond grit rod) and an old ceramic pocket hone with round sides for mine, or the Spyderco Pro-Files.

I have a hard time getting a real secure grip on the Cricket, but I have pretty large hands.
