Thanks for pointing the way to a passaround nubbie.

My review is posted in the Knife Review Forum.

I shipped the knife to Revolvergeek today Saturday 8 Mar by Priority Mail. Should be to Baton Rouge pretty quickly from here near Houston.

Thanks again for this opportunity! This knife is one I've looked at in pictures only. Having a chance to test one was great.

Recieved the Lum and sheath today safe and sound. Will post some initial impressions after I have had a chance to play with it some.

The Lum and sheath will go out tomorrow (Priority Mail with insurance and delivery confirmation). I had hoped to send them today but we had a bit of a virus outbreak at work and I ended up spening most of my day fixing that.

Make sure your virus data files are as up to date as possible....... :barf:

Overall, I like the Lum Chinese, but I am not sure I will get one. I really like the wide flat blade. I did not get to do much cutting with it, but I like it just the same.

The handle fits my hand better than I had thought it would. I like the shape of it a lot, but it just feels too smooth. Not really slippery, that would not be fair nor accurate, but just too smooth. I really think that this knife would be improved a lot (for me) by the addition of some grooves on the spine of the blade and a low guard/kicker right at the base of the edge. I did not have any problem with my grip slipping, but I was always worried about grabbing the bottom of the blade or trying to choke up a little and getting onto it.

As always, the OST neck sheath worked perfectly. I will have to order a couple of these for the newer style Rescues at some point.

I think a G10 handled Chinese with about a 3/16 inch high bump/guard (just as tall as it could be made without sticking out the backside of the handle when closed) added to the bottom of the blade would be very close to a perfect EDC working knife.

Thanks for the chance to try it out!! :D

Hey guys, I got the knife today. Actually it was delivered yesterday, but I was at work all day, and didn't get off until this morning (Tues 3/18, I just realized that I'm actually posting after midnight). Anyway, funky little knife. I thought they were green. Was this a special model? Nice little sheath, works well. What's the purpose for the big leaf blade anyway? I know it is a common Chinese blade shape, but what are it's benefits? Anyway, just wanted to let you know I received it, and will give it a little use over the next couple days. BTW, it came nice and sharp.

The Lum is on it's way to FivePointOhh now. I really didn't get to use the knife that much, so I don't have that much to offer. Personally, I don't care much for the design, but that's just my preferences. The blade looks like it would be at home in the kitchen, or cleaning wild game. Definitely good quality knife, just not my cup of tea. I touched it up on my sharpmaker, and it really pops hair now!

Thanks Dave for giving me the oportunity to test this knife.

Got a note today in the mail that my mailman missed me and I could pick up the package tomorrow after 9AM. Doh! Serves me right for going into work to file my pension papers. :(

Hi Dave,

The lum was mailed to you on 4/1/03. I will email the tracking number to you. Thanks for the passaround! :D
