The steel for the knife is made in New York. The clips and clip hardware are made in Colorado. These materials and parts are shipped to a very good maker that happens to live in Taiwan.

Having a knife made in the USA is very important to me. I don't think all knives made here are better I just prefer to support the economy of my own country. I seen my own job get shipped to Mexico years ago.

Having said that, a coworker asked to see my knife today. He did not know one maker from another but he was pretty excited it said USA on the blade. It was a Benchmade HK 14205.

It is hard for me to understand how we as Americans cannot make our own knives and having a knife say Taiwan, China or something else just doesn't give the same feeling of pride of ownership as USA.

Right or wrong, make mine American made.

We can - we do - Spyderco is. They just happen to make them other places also.
