I like the Spyderco Mamba a lot looking at the pictures of Mr Blonde from the Amsterdam meeting. I just hope the knife will be affordable. Who else likes to see this knife in 2015?

I'm hoping it comes out sooner rather than later!

They did a phenomenal job with the lines. It looks almost identical to the custom version, the difference only being the addition of the Spyderco opening hole. I like the Spyderco version more for two reasons. The custom versions costs 800 and have gone as high as 1500+. However, my real reason is that the Spyderco version has a double headed pivot.

Custom version:

Spyderco version of the Brend/Pirella collab:

This is a really cool design, but I would be shocked if it were less than $300.

Yep. And given that this knife isn't one I'd be willing to carry due to its size (move over ZT!), I doubt I'd be willing to spend that much on it. Now if Spyderco were to make a Mini Mamba with around a 3" blade . . . ;)

PS: Here are the specs Mr Blonde provided so folks don't have to go looking for them:

Overall Length: 24 cm / 9.45 inches
Blade Length: 10 cm /3.94 inches
Closed Length: 14,5 cm / 5.71 inches

I don't know why... it reminds me of the silhouette of a male Sockeye Salmon.

I do like it though. Coated blade grinds is interesting for contrast.

The grind did not allow the blade to be sharpened all the way back. Leaving a good 1/4 of blade dull near the choil, that should be addressed.

I also would like to see this knife at an affordable price. It doesn't look good though. I expressed your sentiments on the thread that you referred to and Rev Devil made it abundantly clear in his response to me that the Mamba will be anything but affordable for most people. [ I know the Rev is a moderator but is he also associated with Spyderco? ]

No need to be so sensitive regarding my reply Larry. Also, I have no affiliation other than being a fan for over 15 years, owning over 120+ of their knives, and I read a lot about designers, makers, and realted. The thing is if you look at the Rubicon knife for example, it has similar materials, look what it costs. Look at any other of the newer collab models and you should quickly see a common theme, increased prices. I see threads in every forum where people wish that a specific knife were just a half ounce lighter, a quarter in shorter blade or longer, etc. People question why certain knives cost what they cost all the time, over and over. Yet they fail to understand or possibly read the answers that most manufacturers share. Walter Brend knvies are anything but inexpensive, his customs command some serious coin. A simple search through Google would show you what less flashy knives cost. I never said it would be super expensive, no way for anyone to know aside from Sal/Eric. But, based on previous history and knowing what most know about the designer it isn't going to be considered one of the inexpensive models by a long shot. just a discussion here, nothing more nothing less.

I love the look of this knife as well. But it is a little too big for my taste. What is affordable in your opinion.

+1
May be some super deal or super sale

I like the idea, but I am thinking more like 3.5" blade.

Great lookin knife. I'm looking forward to it! I'd bet that it'll cost just a smidge less than the Rubicon.

You can find for much less in US. KW has them on pre-order for $290, still a lot of cash for me. I will wait for reviews. May be I will hit lotto. :D

This is a very striking design. If I was a collector it would have been high on my list. Unfortunately I am not, and the DLC coating puts me off. Eventually you will scratch it during sharpening or use, and end up with a very secondhand-looking knife. I do not mind scratches on steel blades, but scratched coatings just looks terrible, especially on showcases like this.

It's a visually striking design, but certainly not for me. The older I get, the more I like the solid utilitarian designs in the Spyderco lineup.

This knife is gorgeous!

$539.95 is the official MSRP. This is a fair price for this knife and IMO, reflects a response to all the whining and crying about people/'flippers' buying popular Spyderco Sprint and productions knives to resell, often at or above the MSRP. I hope all the folks that did the complaining are happy now. :D

I'll be looking at the Mamba hard when released. I doubt I would carry it much, but the design is incredibly cool.
