spyderco manix 2 translucent blue

I had the g10 manix 2 for a while I didn't like the lock to much it got me a real nasty cut slipping one time and I always needed two hands to get it as it was real stiff

I have considered buying this one as gifts for male relatives in their 20's. It's a neat design; it's priced fairly, and should be fine for casual EDC.

It's a quality knife but doesn't look like it. If the look of the knife isn't a problem for you it is an excellent value. (I've seen it on the net as cheap as $66 bucks)

The only issue is that it's missing the sweet liner jimping that the G10 version has.

Gave mine away. Couldn't stand it, felt to cheap love spyderco!
.
its molded plastic. What did you expect it to feel like? Mine doesn't feel "cheap" at all. Its light and locks up like a bankvault while still being smooth to open.

Liked how lightweight it is compared to its size but was a bit underwhelmed by it overall. I'd spend the extra $40 or so extra dollars for a Sage 3.

I did feel buyers remorse after i found out about the g10 versions being ffg in the new models. Though I just plan to sell mine and get a black dlc xl version.

I like the light weight for the size and the FFG but didnt like the lock at all. Ended up trading mine away.

I agree with some of the other guys here. The knife felt cheap and the lock was difficult to disengage. If you want a bigger spyderco folder, you can't go wrong with a pm2!

I think it's an incredible knife when you consider just how lightweight it is yet how full the handle and blade are. The G10 vs. lightweight models are going to feel different. I don't believe the lightweight model feels cheap at all. I also had no issues with the lock.

Nevermind our opinions though, form your own as they matter the most.

For lightweight applications it's a fine knife. There are no liners in the handle so I wouldn't use it hard. I like the blade shape too. Mine opens smooth and locks up tight. The CTS BD-1 steel takes a screaming edge that polishes really well. I haven't had the knife long enough to tell you how well the steel holds an edge though.

I wear this knife when weight is the biggest consideration. In that role, it excels. If however, weight isn't the primary, it's not the knife I'd grab.

Also, given the minimal weight difference between this model of the Manix & the FFG Endura, I think the Endura is superior. The Endura has embedded, skeletonize liners, VG-10 steel, and an excellent lock up.

I liked the light weight.
Did not have any issue with lock as other have reported but translucent plastic just did not do it for me.
Returnd it and got PM2.

Love mine, the lock isn't as easy to use as an axis lock, but still pretty easy to use. Maybe you guys have weak fingers ;)

I'm actually carrying mine today, I have no issues with the lock, it and my Sage 3 are about the only 2 spyderco's I've been carrying anymore cause I love the [axis] style lock (or any that operate similar). I like my stuff ambidextrous.

As for the BD1, well I actually like it but I know alot of people don't, from what I've experienced its some of the most stain resistant "stainless" out there, never had problems with and sort of rust or even the slightest discoloration and I expose blades to pretty harsh conditions. It also takes an extremely sharp edge, I've read a few people state the edge they can put on their BD1 blades is the edge they measure all their others against.

Be advised you absolutely can not take the FRCP version (the LW) apart at all, can't remove the blade or ether scale, if your one to tinker (the old ones are pinned construction and the new ones just don't come apart even tho they switched to torx screws).
