Spyderco Manix 2 vs Cold Steel Recon 1?

For what you describe, Recon 1 hands down. Larger knife overall, and AUS8 is not quite as edge retentive as 154CM, but it's tougher.

For a 'tactical' knife, there are three important things - length, length and length. As the Recon 1 has the longest blade, that would be the one I would pick. For the vast majority of other applications, the Manix 2 wins the prize.
 
Manix 2, I just got two of them actually. Blacked out and a Orange S30v sprint. It's my favorite knife I have owned...and I've and Umnumzaan's and the like...it just feels so good in hand. VERY solid.
 
you cant go wrong with ether knife ,it all depends on use and your preferences .
Recon bigger and stronger.
 
I decided to get the cold steel recon 1. I ordered it because it was 20 bucks cheaper than the manix 2 (also because I considered everybody's comments in this thread). The manix 2 wasn't even in stock. I ordered the Recon 1 along with a Kershaw leek
