Spyderco military available with tip-up carry? Or an alternative to this model?

Unless you're insisting on the steel, Resilience will fit the bill. Zip tie mod will wave perfectly too.

I zip-tie waved my Resilence, The blade holds an edge almost as long as the Military because I cut cardboard USPS priority Mail boxes with them both head to head and cut for cut.

I felt no difference until the last few cuts where the Millie pulled ahead. In about 10 more cuts it was as dull as the Resilience.

It's dirt cheap, has a blade and handle size that would make a Military blush and oh yeah did I mention I only paid $40 bucks for it with free shipping too.

I've owned 2 Militarys - S30V and IMHO it's not worth a premium to pay for a steel upgrade. SS30V is good cutlery steel and it's the first folder I ever got to whittle hairs.

The Resilience is a darn big knife at a low price - no joke!!

Wow, at forty bucks it's a steal.

I was looking at a Voyager as cheaper back-up, but this looks heaps better.

From what I've heard, have not held a military, that the tip down position works better, because of the length of the handle. If it were tip up then you have to walk your hand up the handle to get to the deployment hole. YMV.

+1 I cannot find the thread, but there is one with a good conversation on why the Military is best had tip down. Do some more searching, you should find it.

It doesn't matter how good tip down is if he wants to wave it. It can only be tip up for that no matter how many people prefer a big knife tip down.

Speaking from long experience, it's just not true. It wears and deploys perfectly from tip-up. Other reasons I've heard were lack of retention, also not true.
I think Occam's razor applies; it was overlooked at design time. ;) They won't make that mistake again.
