What is your feeling about edcing a Military? Too big? I do have some quams as legal in Illinois is 3" but I have had no problems in 35 years of carrying folders. Dont see me gettin in trouble any time soon. I really like the knife. Have many more expensive knives worth 3x the price, but not sure as a edc. Kind replys are most welcome.

The Military is a wonderful EDC because it is so light and thin and easy to carry. Plus, the handle is very ergonomic, and the blade is perfect for cutting. And it is very well built.

However, if it is illegal, don't carry it. Try the Para-Military. Even though you haven't had any problems carrying larger blades, events can turn against you. I was once arrested (incorrectly) for grand theft auto. The police searched my pockets and found a small slip joint. It became a huge issue. Had that knife been illegally long, I'd have been in trouble.

It depends on your environment. If it were socially acceptable, I think I would wear my Military most of the time. The knife itself is near perfect.
I tend to EDC smaller, gentlemen-styled that won't scare the non-knife-people. Say, an Urban, an UKPK, a Mcusta, a Victorinox Soldier, a Kiwi, etc
Of course, all this depends on how much you care about how you're being perceived by others. This can be very important in your professional environment as well.

I found the military too big for me to EDC, plus I found that any of my 3" folders could handle anything I would need a knife for. I wouldn't break the law just to carry an extra inch of cutting edge. I would definately check out the Para, nice large handle and a 3" blade.

All things considered, I would consider the Military the finest/best EDC knife Ive ever carried. I ditto what Twindog says above.

I do carry a Military every day, but the legal length for a pocket knife blade here is 4 inches. I'd carry a Police 3 if I could do it legally, but I can't so I don't. I'm old enough to be the average patrol officer's father, and I look like Santa Claus, so I'm not likely to get hassled, but that doesn't make it legal.

Too big? Nah. It's very light and thin, I don't really notice it in my pocket. The Military is one of those must have knives, IMO.

Carry a Millie everyday. I live in Illinois as well, but I think the 3" limit only applies to a few municipalities.

My main work knife is a Millie, I also carry a Police 3 from time to time, I trade off my off duty knife, Millie (I have several versions) Police 3, and the FFG Endura. The Milllie is a great EDC, here in Texas, it and the Police 3 are legal so I have no problem with what I carry.

I carried one for about a year, Worked out great for me( And I live in Ca.). Unless you are a trouble maker, I wouldn`t worry about it.

i agree, the millie is a good one i edc'd one for a while and liked it, also thought the handles worked fine, it was lite, thin and easy to carry.

if 3" is the limit though i would stick with that there are plenty of 3" and under folders just as good albeit with a shorter blade.

If there is a three inch blade limit, the Para is just as illegal as the Military.

As much as I like the Military, I think that it's just a tad too big to EDC.
While it is light-weight for its size, and thin for such a large folder, it is still rather bulky and takes up nearly all of the pocket.
And while the handle is great for huge hands or for those who wear gloves, it's just overkill for my needs.
It also rides rather high in the pocket due to the clip location.

I EDC my Military all the time and I love the knife. My Military has been my most carried knife for the past 2 years and its never let me down.

I cant advocate you breaking the law though...

The Spyderco Military is a great knife and very compact and light weight for it's blade size. I have no problem EDC'ing one. However, carrying a 4 inch folder is not illegal in my state. Its true that if you are an average citizen, who does not attract the attention of law enforcement, chances are you will never be searched and the blade length may never be an issue. When I was younger and ignorant, I carried a Spyderco Police model (4+ inch blade) for years when I used to live in IL with no problems.

But.

There is still a remote chance it could happen, and honestly IMO its just not worth the risk. There are lots of excellent knives of less than 3 inches (the Spyderco Delica for example is an excellent EDC knife that meets your limits) that will handle almost ever task you are likely to come across.

I EDC a military. For such a large blade is carries well. I would be wary about carrying something that that illegal; it only takes one time to get in some serious troulbe.

Light-weight....yes.

Compact....No.

A 4" blade (but only 3.75" cutting edge) in a 5.50" handle.
That's not very compact.
