I really need input! Do I spend the extra hundred dollars and get the frame lock? Or do I save a hundred dollars and get the regular? OH GOD MY WORLD IS BEING TORN APART! I have the money for the framelock... but it would easily be spent on other things....

Please, post pictures of them both being sexy.

If I was in the market for another military I would most definitely be going the frame lock version. I finally got to handle one last week and was blown away by the quality.

I currently have a Military with liner lock and like it just fine. I wouldn't mind getting a frame lock version though. Can't go wrong either way in my opinion. Great little knife.

Either one will serve you well.

here's a couple of mine:

An M4+Ti and M390 carbon fiber. They are users. They are ALL users :)

I think it comes down to one question: what one to get first?

Chances are you will end up with both.

Anyway. Back on topic.

Ti feels nice for me, but if it gets cold it can be a problem. The nested liner lock of the normal one is a work of functional beauty. Nested liner locks is a great feature.

I like the Ti Military, but that money is being saved for a new custom, so it is on the back burner.

when you like your military clipped inside your right pocket, you'll appreciate plain titanium. g-10, frn, even most CF's scratch the most sensitive parts of your fingers (above the nails) whenever you need to shove your hand in there to get at other things. an frn scratched both my wife's and kid's hands when THEY shoved their hands inside my pocket.

what the heck, i always prefer waistband clip.

After carrying a carbon fiber Military for a couple of years, the TiRIL version feels like a brick. Yeah, it's light for an all-metal knife, but that doesn't make it light, and light is what makes the Military the Military. I tried carrying the TiRIL Millie in the winter, and I could feel that big slab of metal sucking heat out of my leg every time I went outside. It beats me why people want one.

I love my Ti Millie but I didn't use to carry it a lot because it just didn't feel right to me when it was in the pocket. I got a belt sheath for it and now it carries fine.

If I would think Frame-lock, I would buy Fluted Ti variant. It is lighter, better grip and looks much better. Or may be CF M390, you still can find them at decent price.

Save your money. The Spyderco Military liner-lock is probably the best liner-lock extant. Very strong steel of some kind. Yes, the titanium rates way higher on the "awe-o-meter", and in fact may be worth the money. However, you needn't spend the money as the actual intrinsic value in terms of functionality is not there. In other words I don't think the titanium frame lock Military is twice the knife the liner lock is in any terms...including strength...if it is functionaly better at all...which I doubt.

So pay the extra money if you want a great titanium knife...you won't be disappointed. If you has some qualms about spending the extra money and have no fetish for titanium (at least for now) you will be well served by the plain old Military...which is one heck of a fantastic knife.

PS. Someday, I will have a titanium knife. Either a Military or a Sebenza...but not today.

light is what makes the Military the Military.

Agree with this. Get the G10 version or, if you can find one, a Carbon Fiber version. I think what makes it such a great knife is that it has a four inch blade but carries like a delica (combination of low weight and subtle curvature of both the handle and clip). One of mine (Cf/M390) is in my pocket right now :D

The Military, for what it costs, is one of my favorite production knives. When I look at a folding knife I examine all of the links in the chain that make it what it is. When I look at the parts of the Military I see a few weaker links that are not made any more robust with added Ti scales. The weak points of the Millie are the small screws and the giant hole in the blade. I don't see them being under built for my uses. I just like to keep things in perspective.

Like someone above said & I agree. The light weight of the Millie is a big part of what it is! The Titanium, as I said above, does not really make the knife better overall. It just adds Ti to the same design, making it more difficult to produce equaling more cost. The weight difference is totally not worth it IMO.

My personal .02c is if you want a Millie buy a G10/S30V model. If you want a Ti frame lock, buy a Sebenza or an SnG. Oddly enough these three knives all weigh almost exactly the same. ~4.5 oz.

I've had both and in the military platform i prefer the liner lock spyderco knows what they are doing with the liner lock its lighter and IMO is just as durable as the frmelock i had, I sold the TI version and kept my liner lock version(plsin s30v version) my cts-xhp is a safe queen

I'd go the carbon fiber route just because of the upgraded steel, but I do want to get a Titanium Military one day. Not to high jack the thread, but can you put the DLC blade from a g10 Military onto a Titanium handled one?
