I'm getting ready to order a Military. They both look good - are there some pros and cons of the G10 vs. Titanium scales?

It looks like the titanium would be heavier and have less grip.

Does the titanium version have the same liner lock as the G10, or is it a frame lock?

Thanks.

The titanium version is a frame lock rated at the same strength as the liner lock version.

That pretty much cover it right there. I had a Ti Military and sold it because of that. I still have about 10 of the G10 flavors, though. :) I did keep a Ti/G10 version, just because thats what hoarders do.

Ti is cool, and the Ti Military is a sweet knife that most folks like. But the coolness factor - for me - is not worth the weight and (relative) slickness. And expense. JMO.

Yeah. *THE* military is the thin, lightweight g10 model. For collectors and fans, it might be nice to have a Ti one, but it's not quite as good, IMO, just because a huge pro of the Millie is how much knife they pack into that lightweight package.

I had the Ti version and didn't like it. Sold it right away.

get a G10!

I have no experience with the titanium military, but both G-10 military i have are really gritty and lube didn't help. I believe it is caused by the liner lock ball detent

The G-10 Millie weighs 118gm. The Ti Millie weighs 162gm. A hybrid Millie would split the difference at 140gm., and you would have to make it yourself. 28.35gm=1oz.

I sold my G10/Titanium and kept my orange G10. I like titanium knives, but to me, the Military is better in G10. One of the great things about the Military is its low weight relative to its size and you lose that with Ti.

I'd love to pimp my Ti Millie and "Mayonise" it with a ton of holes. It would reduce the weight and give your fingers something to grip. I'm really surprised that someone hasn't done this yet (probably have but I have not seen one).

The fluted Ti Military is basically there at 5.1 oz (144.58 grams).

I have to agree. I love the Ti Military but did not buy one due to price and practicality. It like Ti and the feel of this knife in-hand is great. I use my Military for grunt work, and the G-10 scales work better for most things I can think of for me.

If I found a Ti version on the cheap, I would probably buy one just because. That has not happened yet.

I fight the hoarding demon as well, sadly.

I have a Ti Millie. I don't carry it. I believe that the Millie is best in the G10 platform because I like it to be big and light.

The size to weight ratio is one of the best things about the Military. I wouldn't carry a folder this large if it wasn't light for its size.

You hardly know its there at 4.25oz in G10, or 4oz in CF.

The Ti Millie I weighed wasn't fluted, but I like the Swiss cheese handle idea.

I'm the other way around. I love titanium, and the only time I feel that it's slippery is when my hands are really dry, and I find that the G10 camo one that is part of my EDC rotation flexes too much. The other one I use is a CPM-M4 Military that has had the G10 scale swapped out with a Ti one, and that is probably my favorite knife to carry and use.

I'm going to swap out the S30V blade in my other Ti with an M390 blade when my pre-orders come in :)

It's a matter of personal taste, I suppose. I like G-10, and carbon fibre is even better. The titanium is much heavier, and I can see no advantage to it.

What are some of you guys doing that you say is flexing the G-10 scales? I don't see how this would be easy to do.

I carry my Military in my back pocket, and when I take out my G10 one, the blade isn't centered anymore. It straightens out eventually though.
