I'm thinking about buying a spyderco military but before I do that I wanted to know what material is the backspacer made from. I'm asking this because I had bad experience with a cheap plastic spacer from other company and it broke. Does anybody know? thanks :)

great info from the link^^

Given the Military is an esteemed model from a genuine/quality company you should have nothing to worry about!

I have a paramilitary D2 with grn scales, and there is really nothing cheap feeling about the knife. It is of very good quality in material and manufacturing. I am sure you will enjoy your Spyderco knife whether military, paramilitary, or any other model. If your a big guy like me, a military is great. I want one of the sprint run D2 military knives, but they were out of my budget range. I got a para in D2, because I could afford it at the time, but still want to get a military. I read on this forum that some others prefer the paramilitary which is just a tad smaller, but almost more popular it seems than its big brother. You will not be disappointed, get one.....

If I'm not mistaken (it does happen), the spacer used to be delrin. On my Digicam millie, it is aluminum.

The older models may come with Delrin backspacers. The 2009 version of the DigiCam Military has Aluminum Backspacers

Little known fact gleaned from one of Sal's posts: he originally intended to have tritium night-site style GID capsules in the backspacer, which is why he went with Delrin in the first place. That idea didn't work out, but the Delrin spacer was retained for years. It was switched to an anodized aluminum spacer a couple of years ago.

Now that would have been very cool.

This is a little off topic but anyway if you have big hands you will enjoy the milli. If your like me and have small to medium hands it will be a little big IMHO.

The millie is amazing and very tough. I abused mine past what a folder should go through, and it kept on ticking.

I would suggest that you check out the military in person. It's quite a large knife as I found out when I last visited a knife shop when compared to a endura which some people find to be large knife.
