spyderco military question

Cool info guys, I am waiting for my first Mil. to arrive anyday now. I am excited to get using it.

I never scratched it. I just gave it a little tap on my teeth to find out.;)
Great knife,but the off center blade drives me nuts. Even after I tried to fix it doing the back spacer trick it still didn't work.
 
on my d2 milie, i just removed the threaded inserts that were press-fit into the delrin backspacer and used those. now it's completely open backed and that ugly out of place backspacer is gone.

I read a thread where you loosen the back spacer and wedge the blade over and you're home free. It wasn't that easy though.

They said to do it with the pivot tight, first loosen the backspacer then the pivot screw must be loosened too. For the wedge (down by the tip) use a peice of matchbook cover (or similar - business card) and put two sharp creases in it for the proper thickness. (It took me three sections/folds of a business card along the tip end of the blade.)

Insert the cardboard into the side that the blade's leaning toward. I had to take mine past the center point and it was actually sitting toward the other side of the handle. Tighten up the backspacer (side to side) until snug then the pivot (not super tight) and pull wedge out. Voila..centered!

Try that a few times with varying wedge thickneses and placements (tip or along the last inch of the bad side) and you'll get it! :D

I can actually say that I learned something new today. I thought that the backspacer on my digicam Millie was some type of plastic. Never gave it much thought until now.

This news shouldn't be as cool to me as it is. I need to get out more.
