Is the Spyderco military in CPM S90V the only military to have dual nested liners.Or do all the other militaries have them also. The difference being the carbon fibre handle and the blade steel only?.Are there any other differences between the S90V and other militaries.
Is the military in S90V done as far as production goes or would there be another run sometime in the future.Appreciate a reply from Mr Sal Glesser(if possible) or others with such info, thank you.

to my knowledge ,only the first military production had only one nested liner, used as lock
my cpms30V also has dual liners , and i believe all new ones have them

The second nested partial liner was introduced on the BG-42/CF sprint run and has been used on all the Militaries made since that time. The S30V/CF sprint didn't have it, nor did any of the earlier regular production pieces.

Wow, that's interesting information.

My Military is S30V with only one liner, but of course I've been carrying it for years so I guess it's no shock that it is one of the older models. :D

Newer millies have dual nested liners, and really the S90V/CF is such an upgrade. I recently got an older style millie, and it made me love the CF one that much more. Holds an edge amazingly long.

I would love to get the carbon fiber model but I don't want to invest in diamond rods which are an additional $45. The s30v model sharpens just fine on the sharpmaker with the included rods.

 You don't need diamonds to sharpen S90V. Trust me.

Im curious, what do you use?

Lansky's Ultra Fine hone, ceramic. Just a touch up every couple of weeks.

I'm also expecting a Sharpmaker sometime soon from a fat man in a red suit. Sal has attested to the use of ceramic on the military (in all configurations)

I haven't lost the edge on mine, not even close but I can attest that a few strokes on my standard Sharpmaker touches up my S90V Millie extremly well. The difference before and after is fast and extremely obvious.

For those of you with multiple Military's - is there a difference in build quality? For some reason I'm thinking the carbon fiber model has to have better fit/finish because it costs $70 more than the standard model.

Or it could be the fact that fully CF scales alone would cost almost $50. That and the S90V blade. Such an upgrade at so little cost. :)

I have to millies, and as far as I can tell, they are identical. Well, except for the CF one being amazing compared to the normal G-10. I've been spoiled by carbon fiber. :D

What is the texture like? Grippier than the G10?

Hell yes. I didn't notice it at first, but once I got one in G-10 to compare, it's a lot grippier. The G-10 still grips, but the ridges on the carbon fiber are deeper.

I don't see any difference between my BG42, S90V and G10 S30V as far as build quality. I'm wearing my S30V right now and I LOVE this knife because I don't try to baby it like the others.

What about the D2 Green G10 and the S30V Camo G10 Military models - Duel or Single liners?

Dual liners!

Thanks Mate, have one of each heading down under to add to my Military collection and was curious.

Hope Spyderco keep throwing out different variations of this classic design - keep em coming.
