Yep, what Danbo said.

BTW, great pics, Simona! I second the request for pictures of the Civilian. Then you will have hit my first and second favorite Spydies!

Sorry to spook you Simona, but all (NIB) Spydie liner locks I've had ( Wegner Jr, Starmate, Military, Crickets ) went to at least 30% or 50% of the tang.
And about the argument of wear, for a Millie and it's arc shaped tang, to wear out the tang would require an enormous amount of time and use... and even if it would wear out, you could have the excentric pivot adjusted to set it back.

So to me, the position in your Military looks not good. I would be afraid that the liner might too easily slip when gripping the knife very hard (especially left-handed) since the liner is so close to the edge of the tang.

But if everybody is happy with it...

...im now really confused...

please your advices ?? : SO, its good or bad, my Military liner lock ????????????

btw.knife is new, never used, but what wrote Danbo: " it will migrate over to the right with time and wear." : ..i dont know, when you open knife 2-5x daily, how long will migrate further ...? perhaps many years...

seriously, but true is, that you must open blade fast, when you slowly open blade, liner is "half-locked", only with half of the liner (i mean liner thickness).
I will post photo, its better, than my explaining :)
I dont know, perhaps its ok... so knife is new and need use...open-close...

Your knife is fine, Simona. Post a picture of it, along with yourself on the beach. :)

Simona, I guess the best thing to do is to send an e-mail to Spyderco with a link to your photo's and ask them about the lock-up.
The lock-up in your 2nd picture does not look good to me...even for a slow opening. But, as others said, I might be wrong.
Again I'm sorry to cause you worries. I now how it feels when you get a knife from the US all the way to Europe and have to worry about if it's correct. I've been in that situation my self.

Ted

ps. Your pictures are still absolutely stunning!! One thing for sure you don't have to worry about is if the knife is sharp!! That is easy to spot on the pictures!!

Hi Ted,
thanks..

so i dont know, if its bad or not ...hm
Yes, you have true, knife arrived week ago from US shop, and now i have send back?... i really will not..
I leave it...i use not knife hardly, really not, so i think, its ok..

Girl Gone Wild (with a Military)! ...and we love it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the liner locking too far to the left for comfort at this time. The knife is new and needs some break-in use. Practice Spydie drops and other fast openings while watching TV for a few nights and the knife should be just fine. (Imo, of course).

Hi Simona,

don´t worry! This is just the right position for the liner lock. It look´s perfect!

If you use the knife often over month´s or years, it will move probably to the right.

Well, sorry to argue again, but a +/- 1mm (1/25") thick liner that only uses 50%:confused::eek: of it's thickness to cover the blade (as in photo 2 or 3) does not look reliable and/or perfect to me. I hope that Sal will spot this thread and will put his final thoughts in. If he says it's OK then I will not argue with it...

Ted

Simona,

your Military is perfectly ok. My Militaries liner lock was exactly like yours when I first got it.

Just open and close the knife 100-200x and the liner will lock completely positioned on the ramp. Like others already said, it needs a bit of a break-in-period.

Hi Simona. Sorry for your concerns. The Military has a good reputation for very little wear on the liner. I doubt if you will ever wear it to the point where it goes alol of the weay overf to the other side,

As far as the location goes, test it. Open the knife in the "fast open" position and spine wack it. Be sure to hold the handle in such a way that it cannot cut you if it closes. Then open it slowly and spine wack it the same way.

Thanks Mr.Glesser, I try, and blade is absolute not possible close...,in addition :
i open/close (quite new) knife aprox.30x and i gave mineral oil there :)

fast or slowly opened, its now the same liner position:

I think,(i hope, im not wrong) absolute no problem... Or must be liner in the centre ?
BTW. Military is GREAT knife, really elegant curves, and simply high reliable performance!

Simona,

I would much rather have one with the lock in the position yours in since it allows for quite a lot of wear over time. There is not a thing wrong with it at all.

WOW! Nice photos. I love my spyderco mili also. Looking at your pictures I went and got my Mili out and find that the Spyderco Military in any model form PE SE or PS is the perfect and most ergonomic tactical folder going.

Great pics thanks!

Beautiful pictures....you made me go out and buy a SE military. What type of camera do you use? I am going to get one of those too;)
